I have been notified of 2 GSD in Collin county (North Texas).  I do not have the ability to foster right now, but I am working with a back up resource for alternatives; she can maybe foster 1 for a couple of weeks.   Here is what I know about them; the shelter is closed until tomorrow to get more information.

Can someone take them?

1.  Still in holding.  Information is very limited.  This is a female about 2 years old.

My post here isn't really relevant...
But, I noticed that the first female, the 2 yr old...is listed as being a liver/white color.  Never ceases to amaze me what some people come up with when describing a dog...

I do hope these two beautiful dogs are rescued, they both look so sad.  :(

Liver and white to boot.
Possibly the owner described it as liver as it may have been bought as a liver.
I am useless to get them to me, but I will say, any dog that can get within about a hundred miles of Binghamton NY, I WILL TAKE IN TO FOSTER.

There have been some nice looking dogs in kill shelters recently. This boy looks ready for whatever comes his way. Maybe its an optical illusion but does his front right leg ( looking from the front) look odd? Definately overweight http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/24557092

This is another nice looking one. Foxy is over in the Woodlands, which is an upper income area  http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/21238146

Houston and the surrounding areas have more than their share of GSD's in kill shelters and rescues :(

I would love to rescue one, I have rescued/rehabbed GSD's in the past but they have pretty much been laid back SL's.
Tino taught me a few valuable lessons and I am very leery of getting an Adult WL or even strong SL. I would hate to get the dog home only to end up with a whirling dervish at the other end of the lead. I would be better off starting with a pup and teaching it boundries and limits I think. The
re is a Houston GSD Rescue... I wonder if they know about these guys in kill shelters?

Do you know anyone who can pull the top one and hold for his neuter?? I have a kennel open here in NC, and as long as he is neutered, health cert., etc..
I've found rescue transport for $150 from TX to NC I LOVE the way he looks!

Anyone willing to take the 2 females?

by Shandra on 20 November 2012 - 01:11

I will contact some friends at the SPCAPC tomorrow and see if we can get a pull on him. I too fell in love with his looks, he looks ready for IT, whatever IT is, note the ball next to him lol.
I have never done a shelter pull. I will call the shelter tomorrow and see what all is needed. I have a program here that I am trying to get off the ground, Polk County P.A.Ls ( Preventing Accidental Litters) and I am operating under the umbrella of a 501c3, I dont know if that will make a difference.

Here, when we had a shelter, the ACO's would call me to see if I had room, especially gsd's or primarily gsd mixes. We no longer have a shelter but our small volunteer run SPCA does have a small facility, basically about 10 outdoor kennels on gravel with tarps for roofs but they are a licensed "Shelter" They seldom have room for anything altho their permanent building is just about done being remodeled. If I have rescues I let them know and if they have someone looking that cant afford their adoption fee or that just cant see paying 100.00 plus for a cat etc,  they will send them my way.
