I pulled Max from our local kill shelter. Being the GSD lover I am and owing 4 of my own I could not let him get put down. When I met Max at the shelter he was calm and so laid back. Him and his sister were owner relese. He is a 5 year old male, when we pulled him he had the flu and so spent a few days at the vet at which time we found out he was heartworm positive. Once getting him to our rescue we found he was not crate trained, he went threw 4 crates and one 10 by 10 by 6 kennel. We knew we could not do the fast treatment on him so we chose the slow kill treatment. He also had a very dangrous ball drive, meaning we could not trust him with any kid having a toy in their hand. I am a trainer who rescues dogs and trains them to be service dogs for Veterans with PTSD, TBI and MST. I can handel Max but most people can not. His drive is insane, he can still do all the active things he could do without heartworms because on the slow kill. I have had him up for adoption for almost 5 mo now. Being in a crate is not helping him learn to be a family dog and because he does not like male dogs, has a dangrous ball drive he has been very hard to find a foster home for. I am hoping to find him a foster, or a rescue who has a bigger better set up then I do or a forever home. We had him updated on shots, neutered, and are still treating him for the heartworms. He is great with kids but as I said when a toy is in site he still with bite for it not seeing a childs face, hand ect. He is good with cats and female dogs. He has never lundged or tried to bite any person or dog ever. Male dogs he just stands back and shows teeth but if they leave him alone he is fine being around them. http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/23951427 Another rescue posted him for us on petfinder to try to help him find a home faster. Lots of people met him he was just to much for first time GSD owners. So a friend told me to post him here to see what you all had to say or offer to help find Max his forever home.
