What a shame, his owner probably is NOT looking for him, but responsible for his being there.
I make it [PERFECTLY CLEAR], when I sell a pup, that I WILL ALWAYS take back one of my dogs. I don't care how old they are, OR what the problem is, BRING it back, or call me, I WILL come get them.
I would take him in, IF he can get to New York.

He is safe. He looks so much like Joss, one of my GSDS that passed 3 yrs ago. The resemblance is scary! Julie was going to pull him because she didnt want me to see him and get panicked, as he is Joss's clone, but he was already tagged and adopted :)

Broken Heart  that face,

Kitkat;  that is a fantastic option for your puppy buyers, that you will always take back your dogs/puppies/seniors, does not matter what the problem is.  I put that in my contract when I was breeding and showing dogs, an older dog still got dropped off at the shelter for tearing up a rug.  Can you believe that.  She drug it outside and shreaded it some kind of indian rug or something and the bastard took her to the shelter.  Of course we rescued her but what if someone would have not gotten her out of the shelter.  JHC.  Nan

Can someone tell me why we do not get immediate calls from these shelters when the animal comes in, that day or maybe the next day;  at least a heads up that they have a shepherd in the shelter instead of waiting 10 days and contacting us that they have only one more day.  Please.  JHC  Surely they can do better than that especially when they have our rescue information posted loud and clear whom to call.  Would help us out so much to have a little more time to make arrangements for these dogs especially when they get in an owner surrender or  a stray;  knowing full well the owner will never show up.  I just do not understand why they cannot do that and these animals are put on the euthanasia schedule.  Does not seem fair to the animals and our rescues would be able to do so much more for the animals if they were notified right away when the animals come in.  That goes for any shelter and any rescue organization.  OK  Bye for now  Nan

Julie always notifies the shelters that if they get in a GSD to contact her. St Augustine shelter called me yesterday when they got in the 3 1/2 yr old,  to inquire if we would have an interest in taking her, as we were taking the 2 yr old with HW. That was very repsonsible of them. They are a delight to work with and they really care about theirr animals. We will be taking both :)
