My 1st language was German and then English when I started kindergarten (we lived in the US then). Sad thing is I have forgotten most of my German which I am trying to relearn.

My first language is Siouan, I pretty much knew that well before moving off the reservation. I learned English in grammer school. HS I learned how to identify myself, count, just simple communications in German, French and Latin. As an adult I learned Russian.

Growing up I learned Polish, Norwegian, Finnish, Yiddish, and Russian. All I remember is English.

I was born on the Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota and learned Siouan @ Jeffersons Northern Plain day care. I was in day care for 6 years. LOL
Throughout elementary and high school I was also sent to Standing Rock scout camp and Devils Lake tribal camp twice a year growing up. 30 day each camp. My moms side is pretty much all Teton Sioux, I guess my dad felt I had roots there because even when he was stationed in other states or other countries he kept my mom and us there. Finally he moved us all together in PA after his military accident.
But for the most part, Siouan is still spoken in parts of North Dakota, because we have land there and what distant neighbors we do have .. all speak it still. I remember everything I learned while there.
I forgot Latin though. LOL
