Duke1965: it will all depend what females come to be bred, thats the case for any male out there
Of course the female is more important to a mating, IMO, than the male so far as her genetic strength but more importantly, her behavioural stength when raising the pups. Because of the exposure he can provide for Pepper, Gary can hopefully get some great pairings and the genetic potential can be realized in breeders' programs.

The later result=the quality of the pups will depend on the quality of the breeders females...

Dominance is a trait that has value in the right dose. Dogs with extreme rank drive/dominance generally do not make good working dogs because they are always challenging the handler.
not really. dog's dominance is good, and the more, the better.
what you skipped is dog's temperament. dog can be very dominant but with very confident, calm temperament.
such dog not hyper emotional, not easily to be triggered by anything and won't waste his breath on small things.
once handler's rank established, the dog will accept it and with correct handling no problems would arise ever. they are excellent in work but very difficult in changing of handler. at border service four month was allocated for newly recruited handler to work in pair with old, before the dog been transferred.
another dog can be dominant as well but highly reactive to surrounding and with very strongly pronounced aggression.
this type never was used for patrol role, been filtered out and typically left to us to rehome them. indeed they did become very good guard dogs.
in regard of extreme, you're mentioned above, that very rarely happened. from hundreds of pups, passed through us, on my memory only three dogs, which was shot due to unmanageability of their aggressive temperament.
but anyway, the dogs, who was accepted for patrol training, obviously wasn't the type for typical average and inexperienced dog lover. and for sure attempt to make such dogs flashy sport performers, would be dumb idea.
