I live in Montana, and there are 2 beef and sheep farmers here that raise organic animals, I buy what I need after they have butchered, I have an idea of what I need permonth and, if I run out I can just call them and pick up more. I get my chickens and turkeys from Canada. I will find the webpage and send to you. I buy my beef and lamb groud, my beef is $2 pound, $1.70 lamb, bones and entrails all free, as they would just throw them away anyways. They do ship the beef, but mainly keep the lamb on hand for a few people locally, but I can check and see if they will ship some. I don't feed backs of chicken or turkeys, I boil the meat of them and feed to my rescue Chihuahua's.

PINERIDGE - please. Iams and Eukanuba are part of Proctor & Gamble. Eagle is not. At least Eagle is not listed among their product line. Actually very few of the premium type extruded feeds are still preserved with ethoxyquin, BHT or BHA these days. Some of the lower quality foods still are, but we are discussing premium foods here, not the cheap supermarket shelf type. You will however find lots of these lovely artificial and cancer causing preservatives in your regular cereal that you feed your kids every morning, or eat yourself! And several other packaged foods or products, often where you least expect it like spices or marinades... Check the lables folks. Eaglepack is NOT preserved with any of the above. Was actually one of the first to go natural, and to supplement. *** I recently bumped into a Nutro rep and he mentioned a new line they have, called Ultra. We discussde it for a while, I got a couple of free bags to try, Adult formula, that I am currently testing on one dog. She is eating it well, had no problems switching from one day to the next (usually doesn't if the food is good) and so far I like it. Too soon to tell though how it is in the long run. I would consider it worth a look though. http://www.nutroproducts.com/ncuad.asp

PINERIDGE

Thanks DH - I don't keep up with many of the kibble foods because, as you say, they are full of "stuff"-- To me, it's not just the ingredient list and the sources of the ingredients - and how it's put together and and absorbtion rates. MUCH LATER - years after being on some of these foods - people are running into some seriouos reproductive problems -- it's complicated - what can I say. I have tooted my ABADY horn long and loud - so I won't do it again right now - but I'm all for raw diets - wherever you can get them - organic ? all the better. My puppster is gaining 3 - 4 pounds a week (now 13 weeks) and she's only eating 2 - 2 1/2 cups of RAW FOOD a day !! Hardly any of what goes in the front end comes out the back end - It's getting utilized very well as I can see it in her 23 pound body.
