very good info Sunshine.....to add to that I make it a game... I start with the dog and teach them not to jump on me...which you said she is doing well with. I teach her to come up an sit for attention, she gets a treat or a pet. then have a good friend come over and do the same thing...have them walk up (you have her on leash) and when she goes to jump on the person have them walk into her and invade her space...she should back up....when she is off of them then they stop and tell her she is a good girl, when she jumps they step into the dog (no kneeing) and again take her space without saying a command....do this "game" over and over again until she relizes that the sooner she sits the quicker she will get what she wants and that is to be petted....have as many friends come over to play the "game" with her...... I have fixed many dogs this way and it has worked ith all types of temperments without dominating the dog to much to the point that they are afraid of other people. Heather

Het, don't want this to turn in the pat your back scenario, but I did not even think of that. To use the opposite reflex, to invade the space of the dog. That most certainly is the most efficient way to deal with such a problem. Thanks. Sunny

It is hard to give advice not seing the dog. However a dog at nine month will be able to be corrected firmly. Useually i work with the dogs joy, we do what the dog likes to do. But sometimes you need to ask your dog to do something becaurse you say so. When the dog jumps up at people it is uinacceptable. "only" fastest way is to make the dog feel unpleasent when jumping on people. This will quickly be achived with a spike collar and very soft fingers. If you never used spikecollar before find someone that has. This type of training is not to be an trial and error. Do it right and you dont need to do it long REMEMBER to look at you dog if it is ready for this kind of training. Maybe better to wait a few months
