I am looking at a dog in Hungary but have never imported. What shipping company and airline (s) did you use? How much did it cost? The dog is an average size adult german shepherd. Any help would be appreciated.

The seller will usually arrange shipping. With crate, health check and shipping for a adult dog it can range anywhere from 900 to 1,300. They will ship to a larger International Airport closest to you.

The quote I got for the size crate the dog needs was 1500US. For a crate 2.5" smaller in height it's 1000US. Seems like a lot more for just 2.5" taller. Length and width is the same.

It does go by crate size. The crate has to be large enough for the dog to sit up in and turn around in.

I have imported from Hungary and they used Lufthansa To fly him. Shipping was around 1200.00 but he was a 125 lb and 5 month old Great Dane

We have a kennel there. Dog (s) driven to Frankfurt, handled by Gradlyn and we use OHL/Barthco for customs clearance.
