Hi There

Was just wondering what type of food you guys  use for  IPO tracking and if anyone uses Frolic ?

In the past I have used a variation from cooked liver to dry kibble depending on the individual dog and his attitude to food and tracking. But would be interested to hear what other people use.

I use dehydrated beef lung that is made by someone I know. There's nothing added to the lung (ie. one ingredient) and Bosco loves it.

I've been using Red Barn's beef roll with good results: http://www.redbarninc.com/products/dog-food/beef-roll/

Depends on the dog - mostly sausage or rumen ( ? ), cut in small peaces.
Whatever you use, it should be easy to swollow, without chewing.
Once I had a female that loved bananas ( no good color for tracking though...)

When in the UK, I used Tescos cooked cocktail sausages!  They were a big hit.  We also had some stuff called Rodi that was imported from Europe.

We also used a roll format American food, there just wasn't an alternative in the uk - http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/product-category.aspx?ProductCategoryID=21&category=Premium+Food+Roll+Formulas+

I know some folks used the little pouches of "small dog" food.  I think I did try Frolic but my guys weren't over excited by it.

The Natural Balance is very similar to Red Barn, Louise.

Hi Guys

Thanks very much for your input. I have heard about "Tesco Cocktail Sausages" lol. It's just we had a discussion at the club recently and the favourite at the moment seemed to be Frolic but then that had changed from corned beef earlier and black pudding earlier still.

BTW  I'm from UK !!!!

I guess it boils down to, whatever you have success with a particular dog and also what agrees with him. Hence my reason for asking about Frolic as I thought I would try it for a "change" with my dog but unfortunately it seemed to give him the squits. Interestingly enough the beef flavour was no problem but the new chicken  flavour was.

I have a Trainer friend who uses Frolic for general obedience
purposes,  she isn't into Tracking much;  funnily enough she
always uses Chicken, she had digestive problems with the
BEEF.

I use plain ole kibble ( and the darn ravens have a hard time seeing it) because my dogs are RAW feed, they think kibble is wonderful stuff.  Hot dogs are the fall back.  I always track my dogs hungry so any food they find is like candy! I feed twice a day so a dog will get a morning feed,  skip their evening meal and then track the next morning.  They will get their breakfast when tracking in done for that morning.
