My taste is rather eclectic, I don't care if a dog rates high or not and I don't care for extreme dogs, either. I like good work and good progeny. Some of my favorites males in the Midwest right now include:
VA Cuervo Huerta hof, very nice, balanced dog. Great pedigree, good work, and if if he like the other dogs I've seen from that line, very clear headed and safe as well. I'd really like to use him in the future.
V Axel NeoHaus, great pigment and really strong drive, which he absolutely produces. His pups are hell on wheels and not for weak handlers, but exceptional for work.
V Pascha Seewolf, 3/4 showline dog who competed in the BSP at two years of age.
I am dying to meet in person V Kaluv Whirling Thunder, as a Gucci son he has great appeal to me and I really liked his daughter Vogue I saw at a show in May.
V Orus v.d. Mausespitz, a Yukon son. His dam is my female's litter sister, who is a very strong, stable bitch. I will be working with a daughter of his soon that is phenomenal.
If you are really up for a drive, V Yacco Vallendarer Hohe in OH produced some very nice pups for me, and you can trust his owner Mike to take OUTSTANDING care of your bitch.
There is an Eros linebred male in northern IL that is gorgeous in photo and produces well. Another I have not met yet but would really, really like to.
I do like some of the puppies I have seen from Titan and Yasso MIttelwest, beautiful color and type, very spirited, but watch size if you have a big female.
There is a PDB member Davren who I think lives in WI and has a nice titled male as well.
I look forward to others chiming in, I know there are dogs I've overlooked.

Thanks KCzaja,
i am looking for a good showline stud, that produces good red pups, good temp, workable, good conformation, pretty much the total package. also he must be standard size, with good hips/elbows, good ZW number.
my female is lighter black/red color and at the top of the standard, the only good studs i have found are in CA. i am open to many blood lines..... i will take a look at some of the studs you think are worth a look. thanks very much.

Also, I know mittelwest has fallen out of favor here, but I would also consider Yasso Mittelwest. His litter sister produced Paer Hassenborn, a very top winning dog in Germany. Saw him (Yasso) in Peoria last year. If you see him, you won't forget him. Seemed to be a very hard dog. Baru line.
JMHO,
Rik
