Hey beetree, glad you have a good vaca!  Just wanted to add, if he's not seen a vet, don't assume pano!  I had a pup displaying the same symptoms and it turned out to be OCD.  Different problem, different remedy!

Beetree,

Mojo looks like he is bomb sniffing in the trunk of the car. LOL

Glad to hear you had a great time. And it sure is easier with a well behaved Dog. Sounds like he was a lttle angel.

Feed him a small spoon of Hokamix joint compoud on his food every morning, It will put him right quick and help his joints at this vunarble time, Used it for years and no problems but it has helped others with Pups with Pano
I think Puppet is correct, and  make sure his feed does not contain too much calcium 1.2 is high enough

Thanks for that advice, Steve, I never heard of Hokamix before, I just googled it. This sounds like something my sister in law will want to try!

SP: I'll see about a vacation thread when I get a chance... making chocolate zucchini cookies, first, the squash went wild!

GSDTravels, they had x-rays done, but she said they didn't show the customary "grey patches". Makes me wonder, too...She said these were supposed to be experts? Her breeder felt it was pano and told her to change food.

Hopefully, these tips will help and it isn't something worse! She's a cute puffball right now ;)))

metacam - Anti inflammatory perfect for pano.

by beetree on 15 September 2010 - 23:09

Guess what, here's an update! Turns out it wasn't pano after all, it was LYME's!  My sister-in-law had to insist the vet test for it, finally, because the vet had been reluctant because the pup was so young, they didn't think it was probable

Good thing the antibiotics have improved the pups condition! All those tests and x-rays... makes you think and wonder why not a dose of antibiotics... this should have been a first option! OMG, what the poor pup had to suffer, too.
