Dovey, go to 'Forum List' on the left; click on it, first forum comes up is 'Tutorials', click on that and you'll find instructions on putting pics up. Half way down list; "How to upload images to posts and classifieds". People use iPhones all the time.

Who are the dogs in the first picture w/Santa?

The puppy appears to be Solid Black but sometimes it takes awhile before any colors might appear...But...Even Solid Blacks can have some tan between their toes and so on...but it usually doesn't appear until they're a bit older...

the pic with santa is the father alone just to show him and the 2 tans are the mom and dad together

so what your saying is that they can produce solid black pups

I’m no expert on gsd coat color genetics but as a biology teacher who does teach genetics, it is possible your puppy will remain solid black, but chances aren’t high. In gsds, black is recessive. Looking at your puppy’s sire and dam, they would both have to have recessive alleles for black coat color and both would have to pass the recessive alleles on to a puppy. Look at the parents’ pedigrees...were either of their parents solid black? If yes, then they have a recessive allele for black that they could pass on to their offspring.

I have a male gsd that is melanistic black and red. His dam was solid black and his sire is black and red. So he has the recessive allele for black coat color from his dam which he could pass on if he ever breeds.

Like was said above..."Black" is a recessive gene and both parents must have "Black" in their pedigree...
Can you share the parents pedigree?
It looks...from the picture...as though this puppy is solid black...But sometimes as they mature you will find something else...
I have a solid "Black" and as he's grown he's developed Tan hairs in between his toes...This is normal for a "Black" dog...
