I've noticed over the years that so many people who write ADs to Sell a Dog or Puppy don't include pertinent information...

If you write an AD please ask yourself what you'd like to know when answering an AD...Include that information...

Such As:
Dog's/Puppy's Name...
Pedigree...
Pictures...
Include Dog's/Puppy's Birthday/Age...

People who want to sell a dog...Should think about what others are wanting to see and ask...

I think it would be a good idea for anyone that cares to talk to PDB Admins and let them know if a Template type thing would be a good idea...

Bob what I hate is they don't give information and then say loud and proud "No time wasters"  Really what do they want people to just call and buy because if they ask these questions then they are time wasters.

I look at an AD if I don't see a price I don't bother to call either.

Again If I have to ask simple questions that should be in an Ad am I a time waster, does that mean that they will be annoyed by my call

here is what Nate wrote in a Facebook group:
Announcement: the admin is getting tired of prompting people to edit their ads to include the VERY SIMPLE requirements for posting ads on this group. From this point forward, if anyone posts or shares an ad for a dog or litter for sale, that does not have the required information in it, the ad will be deleted from the group.
The requirements are: FULL REGISTERED NAMES, HIP/ELBOW rating and other health testing, CONTACT INFO FOR SELLER, and LINK TO PEDIGREE. "OFA certified", "hips/elbows look good" and "hip rated" are not ratings. Preliminary ratings are also not accepted unless stated and the dog is being sold prior to a certification age. Admin cannot properly monitor responses for the required content of ads in comments. If you see an ad that does not meet these requirements, please report the ad to admin. Thank you.

here is what Amie wrote in a Facebook group:
if you cannot find your ad it was probably deleted. If you do not have the required information your ad will be deleted. We will not be asking you to correct it. Working dogs only are permitted. No pets.
Requirements are-
*Price
*Location
*link to pedigree (working lines) OR video.
If you do not have all 3 your ad will be deleted no questions asked.
Thanks for following the rules,
Admin team

I find all the above to be true...

But...I try to put it more on the owner of the ad...and...saying that...If the ad doesn't have the information that buyers want and/or need then the ad is just writing and not good for people who looked at it...
I also see people writing and saying "No Time Wasters"...I think about this and think...let me see...They don't put pertinent info on the ad and then they expect people to contact them and just buy a dog...I mean to me that just doesn't make sense...
When I write an ad I want people to contact me because you have to talk to people and they have to talk to you before you know if it's a fit or what...Prices can be negotiable...So it's the last thing I talk about...I usually want to find out about the dog and the owner...then if still interested I will talk about the price...

Some people also need to learn how to take good, professional pictures of their dogs. I am sure those of us who have been here awhile all remember some of the clunkers: a pretty young lady bending over so far that you could see down the front of her blouse*; a dog tied up on a rope in a bare courtyard with a dirt floor; or my all time favourite: a person wearing a brown tuque, posing a sable dog on top of a table. The person was hiding their face behind the dog, and the tuque blended in with the dog's fur, making it look like it had a strange lump growing out of its back!

*Yes, PDB members DID speculate that maybe the way the photo was shot was deliberate...Thinking

Most of the ads posted annoy me due to what you all listed above. If PDB is going to buckle down on other portions of the site, the Ads should definitely be included. ;-)

by sdchargers on 23 November 2018 - 23:11

Is the PDB going to adjust the way ads are templated Western Rider?

I think...if interested...People ought to contact the Admins and maybe it can get passed on to the owner of the site...
I mean it's to the total advantage of the people selling the dog to write an Ad that is doing what it is intended to do..."Sell a Dog"...
