Foster or Rescue needed for two female GSDs living in deplorable conditions in Paterson, NJ. They are living outside in a corrugated steel pen in an industrial area of Paterson. They have no shelter from the cold, and their pen is flooding to the point where they have to swim when it rains. We don't know their ages, just that they are mother and daughter and are both adults. They seem friendly and look like they are in pretty good health, other than being dirty and matted. They need to get out of here ASAP... ideally before the next rain. Someone will assist with transport if we can find a foster. Please share and contact  abovelink  if you can foster.

If nothing else comes up, I will take them for foster until something else comes through for them.
I have pups so I won't be able to take anyone that goes through the shelters.

Someone went and pickedrhem up. They said conditions were far worse than imagined. They said filth was not an adequate word and no shelter from the elements

I am now to depressed to function. Too many dogs, cant make a dent. Mom and pups haunting m e. Physically ill at this point  from all the stress. Going to bed and pulling the covers over my head. Trying to rescue is like trying to stop the tides from ebbing and flowing. Too many attitudes, too many in it for their own egos and the dogs be damned. Its a losing battle. People want freedoms above lives of living creatures. I need to go back to the 60's, when it was a different world where love and kindness were the focus of life.  I dont fit into a cold society and the *me*generation.

For every dog you have helped and saved, your efforts have been God-like. Truth is, there are too many innocent creatures who by no fault of their own end up in unfair, unkind, deplorable circumstances, and we can`t save them all. Don`t let that be the measure of your success. Be heartened that by your efforts and commitment you have inspired many, many others to dare to act and to rally and cooperate to save many more than you alone could possibly manage.

I am one example. Had I not chanced upon this site and read your posts which show energy, dedication and the openness to collaborate with others and be resourceful in this work, I would not now be contemplating taking in cross-border rescues. I would easily have believed it wasn`t feasible as I couldn`t orchestrate it on my own. Now that I know you and others are ~out there~ to connect with, I probably will attempt it. I am at least willing to try.

There is such a thing as ~caregiver fatigue~ and it is important to recognize it and take a time-out and/or do whatever you need to do to recover and re-energize. Rescuing is intense, emotional work. The empathy, anxiety, urgency, frustration, disappointments and grief are taxing on a person. While successes bring.relief and joy, that doesn`t negate the drain of getting there - and from there the landscape is littered with yet more needy souls calling out to you. Take heart: you are making an awesome contribution and every time you act, you are growing the tide of change for the better. I hope you find a source of rejuvination that will allow you to return to this work forgiving yourself for what does not work out the way we all would hope, and stopping long enough to give yourself credit for all the good you are doing.

About working line GSDs, let`s talk! :-)

Thumbs Up Nova.  Marjorie you are a God send.  It is ok to take a break.  Go play with Casey for a bit.  He will get your heart back.

Fantastic post Annapolisa.

Marjorie, never underestimate just how much just how much difference even one single dog's life is changed by finding a special home that cherishes them. Though some outcomes are terrible and must haunt you, there are others where you changed the outcome.

Starfish on the beach...............

Beautiful dog Sunsilver, she is another of the lucky ones to find you!
