Tiger Fawn?? - Page 1

My sister's friend breeds boxers and gave her a boxer pup.  It has the oddest markings we have ever seen.  We were told it is a "tiger fawn" and considered rare.  Nothing we have ever heard of before.  We've had a dark brindle and a fawn in the past.  This boy is light in color and he does rather resemble a tiger.  Anyone out there that can shed some light on this coloring?

HI DEB,  I DON'T KNOW WHERE OR WHY BUT MY LAST LITTER FROM MY CLASSIC FAWN FEMALE AND MY DARK BRINDLE EURO MALE PRODUCED A BEAUTIFUL STRIPED FAWN...DEFINATE FAWN BUT WITH SOME TIGER STRIPES ON ONE SIDE AND MINIMAL STRIPES AND MOSTLY FAWN ON THE OTHER..VERY STRIKING PRETTY DOG...HAPPY TRAILS  ROBIN IN FLORIDA

I believe what you are referring to is simply a light colored brindle dog. There is no such thing as a rare fawn dog with tiger stripes.
They are not as rare as you would think.

Tiger stripes are judged for their clarity, it shouldn't be too many nor too few, your boxer has stripes of that type and that is not so rare but it could be considered as not adequate to the standard. So tiger fawn doesn't exist. Exist tiger with stripes widely spaced or marked weakly  ... but I think the colour is not so important if you love your dog.

Thanks everyone for your replies.  It's my sister's dog and bless her heart she believes just about anything she is told rather than do the research herself.  She is very dedicated to the breed as in she won't have anything else but she won't listen to my suggestions of neutering him.  (She might want a pup someday!)  Hopefully she'll take my suggestion about joining this website and getting familiar with her favorite breed.
