The court's agreement to hear the appeal to a challenge brought by Texas and 25 other states led by Republican governors will add fuel to the heated debate over illegal immigration in the 2016 presidential campaign. The case will be heard in April and decided in June, a month before the two parties' political conventions.
A decision reversing the appeals court would give the Department of Homeland Security more than six months to begin implementing the policy before Obama's term ends in January 2017. At that point, it would face likely extension from a Democratic president or extinction from a Republican.

lol, ugh, yes, if they become deferred (which isn't illegal) and they pay into the system they should then be able to draw on the system. It says absolutely nothing about illegals getting benefits. And it actually clearly states that illegals can't draw SS, food stamps or any of the other programs. So, it reinforces my argument against what Joan is repeating. I have links to sites that clearly state illegals are not eligible for benefits. Work authorization is the key words, all it gives is the work authorization and if they work and pay into the sytem they should then be able to draw on that system

LOL! It is trickery and a slap in the face to the immigrants who came into this country, honestly.

Seems to me, the above statement opens the benefits door, wide open! The system is for the benefit of its citizens! That is why we bother to have countries and citizens! You really don't get that? The SS card has to be issued for SS benefits, but really, if they are going to be allowed lawful work, and not benefits, we should simply not make them pay into the system. Of course, the whole point of any change from illegal to legal, is for the Gov't to get their hands on their paycheck for the deductions in the first place! The SS ponzi system needs a new bottom tier, or it will bust ... sooner rather than later.

What happens next?
Millions of undocumented parents of U.S. citizens and permanent residents have been waiting anxiously for USCIS to roll out the DAPA program. Likewise, several hundred thousand undocumented immigrants who now qualify for expanded DACA will have to wait longer. Until this ruling is reversed, the federal government isn’t allowed to do anything to implement either of the new programs. This creates great uncertainty for immigrants and their families.
The U.S. Supreme Court will make a decision on this matter. Most likely, a decision will come in late June 2016. A Supreme Court decision is final. If the Supreme Court rules against the Obama Administration, DAPA and expanded DACA are dead. It will be up to Congress to implement new laws that address the needs of an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. If the Supreme Court rules in favor of the Obama Administration, DAPA and expanded DACA will finally be implemented.
IT WILL BE UP TO THE STATES to decide what benefits will be allowed, but a SS card will be issued through DAPA if it persists to exist by a ruling from the courts.
