I might have drank the kool aid.....

 

Born and raised Baptist.......we don't knock on doors, but we do have
barbeque's and bible studies......everyone is invited..

To me, a Bible Thumper is someone who when defending their position  in an argument or when passing  judgment, uses quotes from  the bible or holds up the bible, as if their religion and bible is the be all and end all, and therefore should justify their actions or decisions to the rest of the community, which obviously it does not.  A Bible Thumper thinks that because they can drag out a quote from the bible, and because they are Christian, they are automatically somehow  superior to the rest of the world, which obviously, they are not.

I'm not just picking on Christianity, I think "Bible Thumping" doesn't have to actually involve a bible.  Any one who expects everyone else to reach the same spiritual conclusions as themselves or anyone who thinks their religion makes them superior to those who do not have the same faith automatically causes my eyes to start rolling to the back of my head, whether they be Christian, Muslim, you name it. 

Something else that bugs me:
I really wish Christians would say "Jesus is my lord" and "bible holds all the answers to my questions" because clearly the rest of us who occupy this world feel differently and believe it or not, we have put just as much thought into our spiritualism (or lack thereof) as any Christian.  Just ask any non Christian, including  atheist, agnostic, Buddhist, Hindu, follower of Islam, Taoism,  Shinto,  Cao Dai, Jew, etc., the list is long. 

Door to Door Proselytizing doesn't bother me as much as bible thumping because I understand this is considered a required obligation for many religions and I can always conversate or  politely decline and shut the door, should I so choose.

I am happy for anyone who is spiritual, I think it can be of great comfort, especially in times of stress, I think it can help guide people in making moral decisions.  ALL I ASK  is that you not assume what you believe is what I should believe.  I ask that you respect my right to believe what I choose to believe, or at the very least, please keep your disrespect to yourself

I have a very high tolerance level for all kinds of views.  I think each person should be free to believe what they want, that's what it is to live in a free society.  When people are scorned because of their beliefs, or lack thereof, it's simply a form of mind control.  I do not believe religion belongs in government, just as I don't believe government belongs in religion.  I've never been able to understand why some religious people get so bent out of shape when their views are not accepted by all.  It's a personal choice, something in our hearts.  The fact that some don't believe should not be a threat to those who do.  I've also never been able to understand why some feel that religious symbols belong in government buildings and/or on government property, then scream religious discrimination when someone suggests they be removed.  The whole premise of freedom of religion is being able to have your own displays on your own property or on property owned by your select church, to worship as you choose.  THAT is freedom of religion, while insisting that these symbols be placed in the public venue is ramming your views down everyone else's throat.  To me, this is such a simple concept and I've never been able to understand why it's so difficult for so many to grasp.  For those who would disagree, I suggest you look to middle east if you'd truly like to see a marriage of government and religion and witness the cruelty and slaughter that goes hand in hand with such a disturbing phenomenon.  Your religion doesn't and shouldn't apply to all, but should be sacred to you.

Max if I have come across as  generalizing about Christians or painting Christianity as bad,  I apologize, because that was not my intention.  Perhaps you  can let me know which part of my post led you to that conclusion so that I may clarify? 

Not all Christians or all Muslims are "______________ (insert religious book here) thumpers" and there are many "thumpers" who aren't religious at all. 

It's a frame of mind, people who think that because they have found a particular truth that works for them in life (not necessarily only spiritual truths, it can be anything, even dog trainers who think there is only one way to train dogs), it must therefore be true for everyone else in the world.  There are many truths, nothing really, is black or white.  If it were, life might be easier, but also so boring and bland, color is good!

Typical criminal behavior...wipe up the evidence. Luckily, most of us have screenshots of her crimes.

She already gave us her lame excuse, she's a sinner!  But, don't forget she lumped us all into that same category.  The difference is, she's asked for forgiveness, so it will all be wiped clean tomorrow and she can start all over, sinning again.  We, who are not so repentant, will rot in hell forever.  LMAO!

I bet that just like the troll, the other sociopath whose mother was just found marinating in her own waste is also spouting Bible verses at anyone who passes by her cell.
