Agree with Joan; testiness is not the same as feedback - and as for your enquiry
being genuine, who knows what agenda some trolls work to ? I accept that you
were asking questions to get real answers, but it is sometimes necessary to
respond to replies for those suggesting ideas to continue the discussion and
make other suggestions if their first ones weren't adequate / relevant. And
with you its been a bit like pulling teeth, Roxanna.
This - like many other dog forums - is a public and international one; to
assume when posting your opening message that it would immediately be
understood by a load of members in your own location and with up to date
working knowledge of your precise sport was ... well, a bit daft.
Besides which, I see despite my own lack of intimate familarity with the
nuts & bolts of Working Trials, I was not wrong in thinking that the dog has
to bring each article back and Present it properly, so I still think loads of
the advice on here may well help you. And that is all we were trying to do.
It really isn't unwelcoming or cliquey - but you need to meet us halfway.
As you yourself say (and at least one other poster said this in reply) it is
difficult to give definite answers to any query when you can't see dog and
handler working for yourself. I don't think anyone here claimed to know all
the answers ?
Whether you "take your ball home" or not is up to you; but I hope you don't,
you might end up liking it here. We can all give and receive useful comments
on every aspect of our dogs, most here realise we never stop learning.
I understand the difficulties when you train with someone a fair distance away.
But surely your Trainer does see this dog work ? I know the person who taught
me to track (may she rest in peace) always tried to get to trials and practice
sessions - maybe not all her pupils, all the time, but she too believed it is not
possible to advise properly if you don't actually see what the dog (and its
handler) are doing. Whatever you decide to do, best of luck getting the
problem sorted.
Linda.
