the dog in the video could heel, which is more than a lot of showlines, and he showed decent commitment  for the helper, although he wasn't asked to contain himself.  They're allowed to pump them up as much as need be for one bite.  The bite was OK, not close to full, but didn't appear mouthy after the grip, he outed.  For "working" I'd say that is what I'd expect at a minimum.  He did look good relatively speaking I'm sure for that venue.  The best in the world?  well that is subjective :)

I don't care how people take it :)  It's what I see.  I've worked plenty of showline dogs over the years that can work.  many more that couldn't, but enough to know that some can.  For the venue, I'm sure this dog stands out.  he looks ok actually overall.  I'd like to see more, a straight heel and a little long bite aren't really fair to judge a dog's life from, but to be "exceptional" I need to see a lot more than a short heel and one bite.  I want to see the OB, full protection and tracking.  It's not hard to make a dog look pretty decent at two exercises done in less than 2 minutes.

I agree with your assessment, zdog.  What you said, and the way you said it wasn't bashing.  It was truthful.  Did I think this dog had amazing work?  No.  Do I think it's a vast improvement from the last few sieger shows?  Why yes I do.  I applaud improvement, and I applaud a handler that actually TRAINED his freakin' dog.

You're very welcome 123--I'm not much of a showline person but a good dog is a good dog regardless of what lines it comes from. I have known some tough showlines......I also like her dark face. How about a full body shot?

Well said, Xeph.   Vk4gsd, you DO have a point, but a not-so-tactful
way of expressing it !  Zdog gets the class Star for diplomacy.

I actually like the way some black and red dogs look.  I have seen a couple that were in decent in work as well.  The work in that short vid was designed to show off the stud.  It showed the type of work I expect to see at the club level from a part timer with an average dog.   The fact that the dog won anything with that type of work says all I need to know about the veracity of the venues he competes in.  When you tout the dog like its hot stuff people are going to be critical and if you cant back up your statements with evidence don't complain. The German Shepherd is a working dog first .

Anyways she looks really PRETTY.

Thank you GSD ; mdarcy appreciate you trying to put thread on track....this in Confirmation.....as you say....if some people just want their dogs to sit, drop, stay that's fine by me.

I just want the complete package, as set about by the 1st President of the SV Rittmeister von Stephanitz, I appreciate the many changes to the German Shepherd from his time to now some good some bad, but his dogs abided by the rules and regulations set out by the SV and as we all know were magnificent show dogs as well as working dogs.

As i am a member of a Club who falls under the banner of the rules and regulations set out by the SV as it stands today I try to abide as best I can with the Standards of today and feel I have truly excellent bloodlines now in my Kennel, and German Shepherds that abide by the "Standard" rules and regulations of todays Germans Shepherd as set out by by the SV.

More importantly, all my dogs become part of my family and I have made many many good friends because of them.

I proud of my dogs, some which have not been perfect, but nevertheless, are yours????

Appreciate all of your comments, it makes life interesting......
