My brother and I were out walking my dogs when a woman who looks approximately 9 months pregnant walks up to pet our dogs (she did ask permission).  My brother asks when she is due, she looks at him rather angrily and states "I had my son 6 months ago" and walks off.  To be honest, I believed she was pregnant as well, she had the walk and the "preggers" belly, the rest of her was reasonably slim so the belly didn't match the rest of her like it is with many pregnant women.  OOPS

I was talking to a person that my friend brought to a party and she comments that her oldest just turned 37 years old (she has 6 children and still happily married to the father of all her children).  I thought she was kidding because she looked so young and commented she must have been extremely young when she had her first baby.  She looks at me with a straight face and said "yes, I was 14 when I had my oldest and my husband was 16".  I am with the rest of you who wanted the ground to open up and swallow me............OOPS

I was at the store recently, buying my youngest son's birthday cake. At the checkout, the woman at the register exclaimed, "Oh, a cake for me!" I asked her if it was her birthday. She replied, "No, but I think I deserve one as my husband's just passed." (her meaning that he just had his birthday). I thought I heard, "...my husband just passed." It immediately felt awkward to me that she said something about her husband dying, when we were talking about birthdays, so I told her I was sorry about her husband. Then at that very second, looking at her face, I figured out what she she actually said. lol

I do recall trying to have an 'intelligent' conversation with a field hockey player about the advantages of natural grass vs AFRO turf blush. I felt like a first class idiot when my faux pas was pointed out - EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
