maybe it was just the eusv. fritz won 4 times.I looked it up and found i was incorrect.

here is a link to all of the wusv / eusv champions
http://www.daelenberghutte.be/wusvchampions.htm

But there is still a list of national champions out there for each country.

Fritz has won the BSP many times before the WUSV, when it was considered the elite competition in the world. Ronny is also in that elite class....I think Fritz won the BSP and WUSV in same year at close to seventy years old.

Mario Verslype won 6 world championship titles and is just about to grab his 7th. If you go by the numbers he is the man.BTW, he won 3 world titles within a year with his current dog.
All the best

Mike Diehl! I think his record speaks for itself in this country! What his club, OG Indy has accomplished in the past few years is remarkable!

Is the question: who's the best training director, or who the best handler? I've seen great handlers bring there dogs to top level events, but are very poor teachers of the sport. That being said, and me being 2 years new to the sport, my TD Ronnie Weiss is pretty damn good at what he does. Reads the dog and handler very well. Then works them accordingly. Vit is a incredible TD as well. JMO. Take care

Is being able to identify the right dogs when they are puppies part of the criteria?

One way to assess the best trainer is certainly the guys that win - but how much of that is being able to pick the right dog?

Should being able to take a bad dog (relatively speaking) and turning them into a good dog be part of the equation?  But how do you assess that?

I mean, it's sort of like Obedience.  Is the person consistently winning with a Golden better than the person consistently taking second with a bulldog?  Just saying.

Jeff,

You bring up a good point. However the guys I have the most respect for are the ones that have there own breeding program creating there own line and has the ability to take them to the top in multiple venues. It takes so much (broad scoping) knowledge to make it possible.

Troop:
Hope this question doesnt hijack your thread.

Who are these top guys/gals really passing there knowledge off too? How many of these top guys have true understudies/right hand men/women to pass there legacy to?
If so who do you guys think are the people to watch up and coming in their stead?

For me I guess it would be not picking the pup as most people can't afford to send a trainer to a breeder to check the pups and make a decision on the best one.

For example I have a bomber puppy coming in the near term I could not afford for example to fly tfloyd or someone from Germany or europe in to evaluate the litter so they are going to have to take what I end up with. Now I have no intentions of doing this I will train the pup myself and with the help of the local clubs  but I was just curious.

now as for my bomber pup Parrish and Russ will help me select the pup that is the best fit for what I am looking for and I trust them to do that. I will pick the pup up in person and see them all and make a final decision but I trust what they will see over the 1st 7-8 weeks
