A dog is not working civil if the is a sleeve or bite suit any where around the dog . He is still working for the sleeve all these top civil dogs seem to need to b pumped by the sight of a sleeve . Look at gee his dog no equipment man acting suspect no sleeve no bite suit and the dog protects that how it should be tested . Thanks Gee by the looks of others your living the dream 😉

Correct, gee. The 'back tie' is one year prior to the vid 'jumping in truck'. No protection training, completely green dog both times.

Again, not testing for 'civil'.

The most important thing is to enjoy the journey - both handler and dog, and learn from each other, and of course others.

That's for sure Gee the journey between play and the dog actually knowing his job still one of the best buzz I ever get iv learned a ton from real dog people and shared a bit. Doesn't have to b a pissing contest

And all the training / conditioning in the world counts for nowt without balance of course.

90% of the time my dogs like most peoples dogs - are just being dogs, enjoying there walks and generally being made a fuss off. Certainly it's good to know whats in the tank, but it's even better when you see them being pussy cats around kids.

A dog can still be in prey drive in the absence of equipment. I don't understand why you guys insist that no equipment = civil unless the dog actually bites. a decoy's moves can be prey moves without equipment on.

Literally thousands of pet dogs around the world charge down mail delivery guys at the door/fence each day.

A dog can be in full prey drive with no equipment.
Dogs can bite civil in prey drive, that's how they evolved to survive.
Defence drive does not always mean a dog will bite civil, it just means the dog is concerned for it's own safety.
Equipment does not mean a dog will not bite civil.

+ a million other possibilities. There is only one way to know if a dog will engage without equipment.

Good points, vk. It's also true that a dog which has never been trained with or on equipment, and bites the man in the suit, that dog in his mind is biting the man, not a suit/toy.
