"I think one should get rid of all equipment and see if dog is focussed and willing to engage without screaming and yelling and whipping, some people where I test dogs from say Im not fair because I test passive, but it is easy to pump a dog up and make it work, but then will it work when not motivated extremely"
The video I have posted is not testing as you say it is training of unfinished dogs. Testing comes later. I know that they turn on passive decoy but that is not purpose of the training. here I was training the dog(s) different things. maily to drop the equipment and turn on the decoy surounded by moving obstacles.

I'm not producing videos to sell pp dogs...like most people who make vid of dogs they claim are 'civil' 'bite for real' personal protection' when in reality, the dogs are just prey monsters at most, no different than dogs playing the 'sport' game."
Joan I am not questioning quality of your dog. After all just about all your dog came from JINOPO.
what I am saying to people who are newbies with one pp dog at this like vj4gsd and other that most train pp/le the dogs this way. I do not . I always make sure that the dogs from puppy hood develop default to bite person and not equipment. I - in my training - teach the dog to redirect as fast as possible from slipped equipment onto the decoy. To tech the dog to target a passive decoy like Duke showed, is EASIER then to make sure that they will abandon the equipment and redirect onto the man.
Your is training as it is done by 90+% of trainers to day. I am not criticizing what you do. I am just showing different - IMO more logical approach . WHere the dog is trained from man to equipment. I personally think that training from equipment to man builds default on equipment which then needs to be corrected and such correction is NEVER 100% since defaults are forever. For that reason ( default is forever) I build default where the dog targets the man.

Hans, that dog didn't come from jinopo, he is third generation bred and born in USA.
That dog was never trained in protection work, ever. In fact, that is only the second time he ever saw a decoy, the first time was a year before that. So there was no 'training' persay, only testing the dog's commitment and nerves.
The training I ever see is cooky cutter. But this decoy was helpful in testing my dog. everything was different for him. as in not presenting sleeve, jumping into bed of truck and allow the dog to bite where he wanted. the guy is game.
Here's a vid, before everyone goes nuts about whip, the purpose was not to fire him up, but to determine his reaction to the unfamiliar sound and put some pressure on him.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgdZZx7SSgU&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Joanro , Your dog in the second vid, shows good focus and intent - well done.
Here is a young Darkvakia Boris immediately re-engaging after the sleeve has been slipped.
