But notitsyou it's your deflection. it is you who started accusing Christians of the same propensities like Muslim by pointing to Old Testament. We are merely responding to it.

s":

Here are controversial Pau's 'antiwomen textes:

"Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.First letter to the Corinthians

"I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet." First letter to Timothy .

As far as st Pauls restriction on women goes some question the validity of both these key "anti-women" texts. Many modern scholars think I Timothy is not by Paul, but by a later writer familiar with his thinking.

No-one doubts that Paul wrote I Corinthians. But some commentators claim verse 14:34 must have been added later, because it appears to contradict an earlier verse in the same letter which says women should have their heads covered when they prophesy.
Surely if they prophesy they cannot keep silent .

More on it here.

noitsyou:"And people who quote the Bible usually haven't read it. "

Prager Hans: Well true but mostly applicable to atheists. ;)

Mostly Christians slaughtered the native Americans so their track record over the years really sucks. Btw, trump isn't really a Christian. He is a trumptian. He doesn't care about religion except hating on Islam because he is xenophobic.

For myself, I have met more atheists (including me !) who are a good deal more familiar with the content of both Testaments than lots of so-called christians. I am usually only beaten in the "chapter & verse" sense by the more, shall we say, 'rabid' of born-agains, or heavily committed religious by profession. I suspect the same was true of VK4 for example - in his case it was his education and upbringing while a child. I was never 'indoctrinated' in the same way, but I had good teachers, who were interesting even if they could not convince, and a retentive memory.

And yet Hans finds it so difficult to understand there are differences between proponents of both religions, and that women (and some men) of Islamic faith could possibly adhere to their faith and yet question some of its apparent tenets. Go figure.

Since I didn't do that, and everyone here can see it, it leaves two choices: you are either not very good at critical thinking and comprehension or, you are a liar.

Come to think about it, you are a liar so maybe the choice is between liar and a liar who isn't very bright.

BTW Hans, I know you have a real deep desire to "win" an argument with me. You never will as long as you are dishonest. Also, I don't argue to "win" or be right; I argue to get closer to the truth. This is another reason why you will never "win." You're out to prove how smart you think you are. I don't need that sort of self-reassurance.

Personal attacks = admission of failure.
Thank you.

Hundmuuter, you say that you" have met more atheists (including you !) who are a good deal more familiar with the content of both Testaments than lots of so-called Christians." Well that perception is  perfectly   logical. It is because you are surrounded by atheists thus you do not meet many Christians, of course I am sure that there may be some atheists more educated in Bible then some Christians . But if  you are basically saying that more atheists knows Bible better  then most Christians,.... then that would be  quite odd and somewhat arrogant.

Hundmutter:"And yet Hans finds it so difficult to understand there are differences between proponents of both religions, and that women (and some men) of Islamic faith could possibly adhere to their faith and yet question some of its apparent tenets. Go figure."

Hans:  Not difficult at all. As I have said before for Muslim not to believe in Sharia is like Christian not to believe in 10 commandants. But just because one believes it   does not mean that they behave by it. Thus  I am basically saying the same thing as you do,  but you are so hell bend on disagreeing with me that you fail to see it.

Yep, I know tons of Christians who don't walk the walk but they sure can talk the talk. I would venture to guess 70% ish don't even attend church. A lot of them are just drunk big mouths who know nothing but know all. I hate to tell you Hans but when a person tells the truth that isn't a personal attack and if your so smart, Trump has lost as he is the master baiter of the personal attack. Glad we agree. Smart? lol, no.
