There seems to be alot of that going around these days.  I just read in our paper that a high school coach was charged with risk of injury to minors because he gave out the access code to a Porn site to his players. It seems this was his idea to fix a problem with the team's camaraderie.

Care to share your reactions to this? Is porn a right of passage in the athletic school culture?

Very sad to hear how coaches and other adults have abused kids they were supposed to mentor.  Simply disgusting!  No, porn should not be a right of passage in the athletic school culture.

I just finished watching Dr. Phil about the Penn ST scandal... anyone else see it?  Porn is often a first step to grooming for abuse.

i just remembered something my son told me the other day. He's a swimmer on the HS team, and we were talking about what music he likes listening to, to get motivated. During the course of the conversation, he mentioned one kid on his team who says he uses porn to get psyched. I remember asking my son if this kid was any good at swimming.

"No." he said, and I said, "See---you just stick with your music."

Porn....and weird pedophiles?

The thing I find lacking in pornography is it may show people
having sex but is generally a women who is only a fixture and a
man that is on parole and needs some fast cash.
In fact, most R rated movie love scenes are so bad, that I fast forward
through them....Only very rarely do I see a love scene that
 is worthy of the title...
But when you are a teenager you are not picky...unfortunately
you will probably see the worst...many time before you
have a chance at the best...Sex is a powerful bond between
man and woman in the natural world...some how the unnatural
and criminal has come into it.

Ace, no way!!! NOT MY BOY, LOL This is the same kid I had to go to school and pick him up at the nurses office because he almost passed out in health class. Some of those illustrations can suck the air out of your lungs when the scale is 25 times larger than life.

My son already told me with a big eye-roll, "MOM, I have a REAL girlfriend, duh, why would I watch porn?!!" I'm not saying the odd smut picture has never crossed his vision, and never will, but I hope I did my job right by him, that he knows porn is not about healthy relationships, it demeans women, and people do get addicted to it.

And then I proceeded to remind him he was still, TOO YOUNG for sex with his girlfriend. I want to be a Grandma, sure, but not when he's still a teenager. Lord help me.
