I worked for a large 'top' Showline breeder that I know bred at least one female with no hip certs. She was just over 2 years old. The reason? Money. The dog could be sold for more bred to a German VA than it could by itself.

..hips are tricky. I think diet/exercise has alot to do with it too. But you people need to remember HD isn't common in some parts of the world. Most likely America is #1 with the problem, because of all the crap breeding. Look at the "sound" Malinois breed for instance... not yet been "altered" by American Breeders. Thank GAWD! So I wouldn't be so quick to denounce a breeder for lack of OFA results.
