Dog1

by Dog1 on 13 January 2005 - 03:01

Has anyone run across this one? Female is bred in Germany, comes to the US and has the litter. Papers are sent to AKC including the Deck Bescheinigung to register the pups. Turns out your litter is the litter that qualified the stud to be AKC DNA registered. Guess you get to be the one that gets the AKC kit, sends it to Germany, gets the swab swabbed and sent back. Lucky you. Are there exceptions?

Dog1, are you referring to an American bitch shipped over, bred and returned? Why would not the German DNA suffice, or if the bitch is American, her DNA that's recognized in the USA? So, AKC would require the bitch's owner to provide AKC with recognized AKC DNA markers to register a litter that was bred in Germany?

Kerry, AKC requires after 7 breedings that the male has to have AKC DNA..so he is talking about a american bitch bred to a german male in germany that has not had his AKC DNA done.. Hope you can get it...it is hard waiting on a another person, because they might not think it a big deal and then you can reg. your litter with AKC. Another option would be to reg your pups with the SV and then get them transfered to AKC. that will tak awhile too.
