Another update:

Owner filed a grievance with the AKC. AKC has informed her this breeder is banned for life from the AKC, therefore, the AKC cannot register her dog. So, since she (the breeder) cannot get SV papers on a litter born here in the states, is she simply out of luck? She still has a GSDCA-WDA logo on her website, and claims on her site puppies will be AKC papered. What is her legal recourse, if any? I haven't seen the contract myself, yet. I also believe she should make this information public. People buying puppies or people using her V rated, import stud have a right to know, in my opinion.

GOOD GRIEF CHARLIE BROWN!!!!  Brave and Celtic Glory are completely wrong.  There is NO registering USA born dogs with pink papers.  It would be like having a US Born citizen with a German Birth Certificate.  Doesn't happen.

Bravo and Celtic need to rear the whole link that Celtic provided.  It is for the USCA -SV dual registry which won't work in this case because she has no ownership of the dogs available thru AKC.  Pink papers are not more desireable.  They are a genetic dead end because the next generation isn't registerable.

Sorry, your friend looks to be SOL and will have to go to court for legal recourse.

All done on this thread

GSD Lineage, the owner and I do not know, the letter from the AKC does not state why, only that the breeder is "suspended from AKC privileges for life".  I am so angry for her, it's truly shameful, and I hope she makes the information public. It's not my place to do so, I just offered to help her try to sort it out.

VonIsengard  Please why do you not think it is your place to say anything.  Why would you not want help keep others from getting ripped off.

You don't have to name your friend or the names of her dog.   If you had known about this person before she bought would you have stayed silent and let them get taken.

We all need to stand together and pass the word when there is someone out there and we know (AKC has suspended them) that they are stealing from other.

With easier/cheaper/faster/more advanced DNA testing today, if the pedigree checks out your friend's dog should be registerable.

It has happened in the past that a GSD breeder was suspended, and as long as the DNA checked out, I understood that the offspring of said GSD got registered. You have added problems/cost/time wait if the parents were also not registered with the AKC. If the person was suspended I'm guessing the AKC would have published the name anyhow. But, the reason is important as if parentage is in doubt... well, that is what AKC registered dogs are about, so that makes it more complex. You do have time, as you say the GSD is only 1 year old.

( You could PM the Reason or say it openly) It is just that that will give us a better idea of what happened and if it can be fixed.

Not sure if this would work... but is it possible to get CKC papers on this dog and then try and register with AKC?

Just a thought...

Lineage, I have laid the situation out with all the information I have. You guys know what I know. The letter from AKC also states that due to the lifelong suspension, they will unable to help register her dog. No mention of DNA was made.

Jyl, I have suggested obtaining an IP number so they may enjoy performance events, as the dog is spayed, anyway.
