On Thursday, I saw the local Fox Philly news there, but I never saw it air.  I didn't recognize the reporter.  A few weeks before the event, I had sent emails to our local news agency.  One reporter got back to Jim Hill and invited him to their studios for an interview.  The reporter is a big advocate of rescues, so don't really think she understood the event, but Jim did great explaining our sport and got a plug in for it.  I wish more of our local news agencies would have responded.

Reno, the majority of GSD owners don't know what IPO is. Why would the general public care?

I lived in Germany 1996-2000 and there were plenty of Germans who knew what Schutzhund is but did not approve or like it.  Knowing what it is doesn't mean they will like it so perhaps just as well they don't know.  Many people watch the protection part and think it is real so they see attack dogs.  Most people never get to know that the entire circus from tracking to protection is an obedience exercise.  Obedience is the real deal but the tracking and protection are obedience also in reality.

I watched the protection part for the first time. My favorite parts were when the dogs seemed to also grab the decoy and want to take them down. Other's seemed to enjoy that, too. I think we want the dog to win!

I actually liked how the program switched between the two elements, Obedience and then protection. It is a great way for newbies to learn. I do have more newbie thoughts and picts on that, in time.
