Actually, I would not be surprised at all if this dog had some "working" blood in there. The "shape" is actually quite similar to working lines, or working/show line crosses.

I am just wondering, is it really impossible for a showline dog to work or even to jump as high/long as shown in this picture? There will always be a clarification/verification if it is working or show line.

No, it's not impossible at all. It mostly depends on the conformation and drive of the individual dog, which seems to vary a great deal with showline, less so IMO with working line (esp. re conformation).  I don't think it's possible to guess accurately just by 'looking' whether this is show, show X etc. It certainly impresses me and I would love to know the lines - whatever they are.

There are any number of CDX, UD,dock diving,  and MACH titled showline GSD's. Qualifying for a CDX requires that a dog can clear the broad jump.  The length of that broad jump would be about 72" for a dog the size of a GSD. I've seen and owned more than one SL GSD who could have cleared the jump shown in the photo, one was a UD and a Sch3 female. It would have depended on how far back from the jump the dog was allowed to commence  to run which we can't tell from the submitted photo. I suspect that many Sch3's could also accomplish that jump. Working or showline;why would that matter?

Sorry, I posted the above in the wrong thread. Can't delete it, so will post it again in the thread about shoulders.

Perhaps I wasn't clear what I meant when I said 'lines', I meant the bloodlines not whether SL or WL. Though I am interested in SLXWL combinations.

Didn't think otherwise, Abby. I need to learn how to include the message I'm referring to. Wasn't yours!!
