Well, I guess I will jump in on this one :-) Good thread
First, I'll just say....I LOVE Momo. Yes he is my dog and everyone loves their dog but Momo is very special for me. Since he was 7 weeks old he had incredible full, hard and calm grips. He handles pressure like its nothing, is pretty fast for a larger dog and is very athletic. I'm sure many people will vouch for that. Best part is...he seems to pass it on.
In that picture, Momo was about 12 months old and learning the guard of object (Kadi was there too and took pics/video). There are more recent pics of Momo at the link below, as you can see...the grips are still there, even under pressure and even though Momo has been fallen directly on numerous times.

Momo, this may be the picture you were trying to put up.

I still like the first picture I put up at the beginning of this thread to show a calm, full hard, bite.
Even if it is a young untrained dog, and is a still frame. Malindobe is very correct in saying you don't
know what happened before or after. But I think Phillipe liked it for the same reasons I like it. It shows
why the Malinois is without a doubt the most dynamic K-9 you will ever watch. I salute you Momo Or Custer
is your real name. You also want a dog the has what they call punch, that is when he makes contact with
good force. This dog seems to have allot of punch, which is very good. I received an e-mail from trainer who
had a dog that was very good in everything , but had no punch. so he sold the dog to the police department.
He did not want try to compete with it. So Momo has a very good bite and punch.

Actually I'm the webmaster for Philippe's sites, and I selected that photo for Momo's page :-)

Thanks Wolfinbok, Momo is maturing into quite an impressive dog IMO.
Well, Kadi liked the photo then :-)
There is some video of that session of OG on that page. Momo was very young but Philippe and I felt it was time to introduce the exercise to him. He did well....good times LOL.
So, I have my opinion on the subject but am curious to hear others (Kadi and I have had the discussion before) so how much of a full, hard, calm grip is trained? How much is genetic?

Loucyn,
First of all the Nordsrtum model rumors are false I take it?
I understand if you want to keep your anonymity. I keep seeing their
adds on here . Model by day, dog trainer by night. I like that.
Trained or genetic? Are good baseball players trained or genetic.
A little of both I would say. The Naturals are so few and far between
it is hard to say. The ratio is probably something like 200 to 1 are
naturally gifted grippers with a full calm bite.
The dog Robbie I showed is one, Smulders owns him. He is getting
allot of breedings in Europe.
By the way it's nice to have both of you,( Malindobe and Loucyn) contribute to this forum, you
are both very knowagable in the breed and their training.
