What is the closest linebreeding that you would find acceptable both here and far.

by ALPHAPUP on 23 October 2004 - 15:10

closet line breeding should be no more than a 2/3 ... then you start to in breed

by KENNYR on 23 October 2004 - 15:10

WOULD YOU LINE BREED 2-3?

by wildthing on 23 October 2004 - 17:10

I WOULD GO NO LESS THAN 3, IT IS TOO RISKY? A GERMAN BREEDER AND FRIEND TOLD ME AND SHOWED ME TO MAKE CERTAIN. PERSONALLY, I DO NOT FEEL THIS IS A GOOD THING IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH GOOD STOCK TO DO THIS. SHE TOLD ME NEVER GO TO NUMBER 2, IT IS TOO CLOSE.

by RedDoggie on 23 October 2004 - 18:10

2/3's are done all the time, and are considered very desireable by many. Any closer, though, is unacceptable, is arguably dangerous, and, I believe, is NOT permitted by the SV. I wouldn't hesistate to do a 2/3.

THIS LINEBREEDING IM IN QUESTION WOULD BE A 2-3 LINEBREEDING ON YASKO VOM FARBENSPIEL

by ALPHAPUP on 23 October 2004 - 20:10

i think the question initially is a good one ...however i would like to state .. ANYONE breeding should have a thorough and comprehensive understanding of Genetics - you should know how , when , and where to line bred and of what value in inbreeding would be [ which of course would be to veryify/validate genetic traits that you are or are not breeding for . ]personally i think most people breed for the incorrect reasons personally and business wise. BREEDING SHOULD ALWAYS BE FOR THE BETTERMEBNT OF THE BREED [ in and of iteslf and never for money !!] Also if you do not know GSD or are not familiar with Genetics - think really if at this time you are ready to breed . Don't forget linebreeding has it's advantages to potentiate traits BUT THE BAD ONES ARE KEPT ALONG WITH THE GOOD ONERS !!! [ some of my colleagues argue that this is quite evident is show line GSD }My personal belief is that there is much to much line breeding .. let us not forget that the GSD is a many task oriented , all-rounded , most versatile canine .. what i want in a seeing eye service dog is not what i desire in my personal protection dog !!! , or police tac unit !!. so there are enough good traits in this breed -- i like to see good outcrossings too !! and morer often -- i think this is well overlooked by those that want to produce the goose that laid the golden egg. i have trained many a differnet breed and i propose that the most /BEST !! all round , can do everything canine is the GSD -- let's keep it that way --- GOOD LUCK TO ALL WITH BREEDING yes

ALPHAPUP, I totally agree with you there. I wouldn't want to breed with two dogs of 2,3 or worse 2,2. I don't know why people do it. I guess if you have a 2,2 of Yasko vom farbenspiel that you can charge a bit more for your puppies, simply because Yasko is a close relative.
