jdh sorry for coming across like a jerk. didn't mean it that way.

DR, No offense taken. However I stand by what I said earlier. While the working lines have improved in the last 10 years, there remains a tendency for weak heads as in the other dogs listed, stretched center pieces, dippy backs, and light bone. At the same time there ARE a number of working line studs that like Lasko have strong bone, large masculine heads, and short center pieces making them preferable for improving these characteristics. Best wishes, Jonah

I think the difference in opinion here on working line conformation stems from different lines. The czech, and DDR lines tend to have larger bone and blockier heads than their West German line counterparts. Please note that I said TEND, there are never absolutes 100% of the time. I have seen MANY scrawny working lines, as well as huge boned. So, lets give and take some instead of picking each other apart. Debby

Debby, I agree. I consider the improvement in recent years to be largely the result of the influx of dogs from the eastern block countries. This should not be construed as hatemail in any way. Breeding any animals requires an objective approach to anything that an animal can contribute to a breeding. Best wishes, All, Jonah

Debby Not picking anyone apart. JBH made a blanket statement about working dogs. I have had working dogs for almost 20 years. Most of these were actual working in Police K9, Narcotics or Schutzhund. Most were big boned, big blocky heads, wide bodies but not excessive length. They did not have the movement of show dogs but could work all day long. I will agree most were Czech or DDr BUT A fair amount were West German and they were built the same. I asked where he was seeing the light boned, light muscle, lengthy in body that he called "typical working dog lines" ? In my experience this has not been the case and I have seen many.??? Sure you can find exceptions but he is wrong with the above statement. :)

PS Debbie I had already apologized to JBH and we did not need your input nor holier-than-thou attitude! Have a good day!

DR, There you go again,,, nit picking things...I do not have an attitude of any kind other than getting very tired of all the nasty nit picky fighting on this site. What makes you think that you know it all? If that is YOUR experience then no one can argue that. But it is NOT the norm and it does NOT make jdh wrong! So just cool your jets and let others have their opinions and experiences also! Debby

jdh, I fully agree with your assertions for clear trends in "working lines". You speak the truth and it bothers some to hear it. But there are always individual exceptions. For example take Eagle Eichenluft who has a large head, good bone and decent confirmation, and the "cross-over dogs who can compete well and place in zuchtschau or profung.

DJI There you go again, sticking your nose in other people's business. You need to just shut up and go wash dishes or something. It is the NORM and you are wrong. I will admit some of you have less than good dog's so that is why you think all working lines have these traits. JDH made the blanket statement you nimrods not me. I could make a blanket statement that Show dogs have no nerves! I would be wrong in that statement. So again Debbie, be a good girl and mind your own business. I am sure you will respond back cause that's a sign of what your are! lol

To everyone else here I am sorry for the bickering. I apologized to JDH and then Debbie had to jump in and stir the pot.
