Does anyone have help for someone who is allergic to dog dander? My wife seems to be developing an allergic reaction to the dog. Any advise would be appreciated.

Tell her she will be missed...just kidding. See an allergist or doctor who specializes in allergies. I had a boyfriend who was allergic to cats and horses and I had both. Shots can be given every so often to keep it under control. With advancements in this area since it is such a huge problem, I am sure has come further. I'm sure someone else has more they can share. Good luck!

Keep the dogs coat and skin well maintained with grooming and supplements. More outdoor time is healthy for the dog and will reduce exposure. There is also a topical product that reduces the release of allergenic particles. Unfortunately I do not recall the name of this product, however you can check pet stores. Good luck

A good vacuum with a hepa filter system and a daily vacuuming in the dogs area might help too. I also noticed a great deal less shedding when I began feeding a RAW diet to my dogs (prior it seemed constant). I do have seasonal allergies to pollens or something outside. I was given Flonaise, not sure on that spelling, but it is a steroid that you inhale up each nostril and it worked great for the pollen. I believe it was for muliple allergens as well, fairly spendy but sometimes you can just get samples from the doc where I live.

I bought a Dyson Animal Vac and it seems to help with allergies. It cleans carpets likie nothing I've ever seen; it's amost embarassing to see the contents of the cannister after you've finished vacuuming. I've seen things I couldn't identify. 4pack's suggestion regarding skin testing and appropriate desensitizing is a good suggestion. Telling the wife that she will be missed was pretty good too LOL.

If it were me, I would take 4pack's FIRST recommendation!

Blitzen,I have the Dyson Vac. I traded the one I had Orbitz that did zero with all the hair, but Dyson is super you are right the stuff it came up with hmmm no wonder, now we know why all the sneezing. Allergies to what ever, is best to go and get tested. And now with fall in the air more mold and other symptoms ja it is better to go with a Dermatologist

Trailrider I take the Flonaise do you get nosebleed with it ones in a while?I have an allergy against cats, but not dogs. The protein from them licking there fur(cats) is what stays in there coat and we have a allergic reaction to that, so the Dermatologist tells me. See you all later, Charlotte ps.just on a break from the OR.Have to get back

Babe, No I never got a nosebleed from it but I believe it said that in the warnings section. I hate the phony roses smell... For some reason this year my allergies were not so bad so I took nothing for them. Where does one find the Dyson Vac??? I just have a Wind Tunnel with dual filtration, it seems to work fine but when it dies I might look for that Dyson.
