Just go to the AKC web site and they have it listed.

So a litter born in Germany, shipped to the US and then registered AKC is not "American Bred"?

Sorry.. I misunderstood you. I was refering to breeding to the AKC approved American standard VS breeding to the German SV Standard. The litter bred in Germany would be German Bred even if born in America. Most AKC judges frown heavily on a dog bred to the German Standard. One big difference is the straight back the AKC requires when the dog is stacked.

How would either registry feel about a dog from the US residing in Germany, BRED then WHELPED in Germany and then the pups shipped to the US and registered as AKC?

Depends on if the dog was bred to meet AKC standards or if bred to the German SV standard. Many breeders of Seiger (SV) dogs in the states send their dogs to Germany for training and breeding. It is basically like having two breeds of German Shepherds.

Imported may be the word you are after. Most people refer to Importing a German Dog and getting the SV "Pink Papers" which they use to obtain AKC registration which is recognized worldwide by the FCI.

I don't think my question poised any mention of training or breeding BUT where the pup is born???So basically, you are saying that is has nothing to do with where the pup is born?

DesertRangers, I think that you are referring to "imports". I am focussing on dogs from the US sent to Germany to be BRED, then WHELPED and then the pups shipped to the US and registered as AKC (which interprets "born in the USA"). I see this as FRAUD!!!

That will depend how the Dam and Sire are registered. While the AKC allows anyone to bred and register pups the SV has certain requirements the Sire and Dam must meet to register the pups.
