I don't know if this link will come up but I will ask anyway. Can any of you look at this pedigree and tell me if this would be a good female to purchase. We plan on training for SCH and probably personal protection. http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/para.utkoma?fadir=397975&modir=93453 Thank you

I have a female off of the first breeding. She is fantastic. She has good drive, is very smart and loves to do bite work. She weighs about 73 lbs and is one of the prettiest females I have seen. She has very nice color also. If you get her you will find she should be able to do anything you want.

I personally would stay away from working lines unless you have a passion for the working bloodlines. I like the german show lines better. If you are interested in a good working bloodlines go to: www.Leerburg.com Good luck

Is this a good working bloodline to go with if your wanting to get involved with training a working dog. I have talked with several people and they say that ddr dogs don't have the crazy high drive that a chech dog does. Can anyone tell me the difference in the 2 types (a east german ddr and a chech). Also any comments on the pedigree of the pup. Any help and comments would be nice as I am very new to this. Thank you

Are you wanting to compete in SchH with an eye toward making the podium, qualifying for the Nationals, the Worlds, etc.--always pulling in the big points for each exercise? Or would you be satisfied with the dog earning it's titles with respectable scores, and not give a rat's butt about being competitive? It makes a difference as to where you see yourself wanting to go, because you need to know whether or not you're looking for a 'points' type of personality/character in a dog. The DDR dogs are reputed to have a slower maturation rate, which can be frustrating for some folks to work with if patience is not a strong suit. There are those who actually *prefer* a dog that takes a bit longer to mature mentally, however, believing that this slower rate produces a dog that is more deliberate in its work.

First off if you are looking for a dog to do SCH and personal protection then you should be looking at working lines. DDR dogs are a personal preference. Lines are a personal preference. I personally like the Grafental lines, I own a few of them. I like the DDR dogs, yes I would agree to the fact that they do seem to mature a little slower and can be a little shall we say frustrateing at times but they do turm out to be nice methodical dogs. Czech dogs, don't know where they get the reputation of being crazed, I have had some real nice ones personally out of ponazi straze lines that were great working k-9's. I have also worked other czech dogs as bomb dogs and found them to be great. So it is pretty much personal choice. i definetly would not purchase a show line if what you wanted was a SCH or personal protection prospect, not that some show line dogs couldn't do it, you would be paying for something you are not intending to get involved with. That is sort of like buying a convertible sport car and you live at the south pole and expecting it to do what you intended it to do, yes it may get you around and looks nice but a jeep would be more of what you need and cheaper.
