Haven't been around for awhile. Been busy with my crew trialing and showing, showing and trialing.
I put eight new titles on various dogs this year. Soul Eater earned his DAE, GCHB, and PT
Moto earned his DAE, GCH, and PT
Tchaikovsky earned his TC and CA
Soul Eater also won his first OHBIS and BISS this year (May and September) and we finished up the year as #1 OHGSD. I'm very proud of him.
Ouzo finished his championship in May and is now working on his Grand. He is also titled in *multiple* venues and has recently started weight pull! He pulled 1400 lbs the other day! I love everything his owner does with him.
Mikasa took her second major this year and will be bred this month before returning to the show ring and herding pasture. She needs seven singles to finish and we're going for a bunch of them next weekend. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll come home with my fourth homebred champion. Dutch, from litter #2, will also be competing the same weekend at a different location. Fingers are crossed he takes his last major to finish. It's been a good year for Marcato

everyone has their own path and what a GSD should be.
not everyone understands that whatever the path, getting the dog out in public, competing against others takes time, effort and finances,
these are some nice dogs, masculinity seems better than a few years ago when I was involved, and also rears and nice short hocks.
best,
Rik

I will be starting Mikasa on C-Course (tending) in the New Year after I've had surgery and her puppies are weaned. I will also be working Moto on A-Course. While I know some will scoff at AKC herding, the titles aren't what I'm after (and I've been to some farms where the sheep are TOUGH). I like seeing who my dog is every time we step into a new pasture with new stock. I like seeing them learn new skills and work through the stress when they do farm chores (they sort, move, and put away their own sheep, as well as other practical things).
I love conformation and will never pretend I don't. It's a passion. But so is herding. I love every second, even on days I'm frustrated.

Congrats, too, on having the top owner-handled GSD in the US--and forget being humble, you have every right to be proud of your crew!

The American bloodlines have been quietly improving in recent years, and your dogs are contributing to that return to the days when one didn't need to look at the undercarriage to know if it was a male or a bitch
LOL hexe, that's what I was trying to say, just couldn;t quite put it so eloqulently.
