Possible death to Schutzhund??? - Page 1

I keep forgetting to post this up... I was on of the forums that i belong to, a working one and saw a post about a possible death coffin for Schutzhund. On the forum of which im a member to mentions that the WUSV judges are talking about the elimination of the courage test. Brittney, One of the things they are talking about is eliminating the courage test or being politically correct in this world of sensitive people "The Long Bite". The argument with most of us is not so much the elimination of the Long bite, Because you can always test a dogs fight drive and courage with a helper that has presence and knows how to press a dog without the dog having to run down a field, But! it's the watering down of Schutzhund to a point that it has absolutaly no credibility, if not already, as a working title. My Theory is this, the Germans are planning the Final Solution..... oooh that sounds familier. They eliminate the attack out of the blind for SchH1 and they eliminate the long bite, then the people at the Sieger show and those Koering their dogs will have a valid argument "Why should my dog have to do the Attack out of the blind and the long bite if it is not a SchH requirement". That's my theory. As I said in other groups SchH is and should continue to be a Breed suitability test for the German Shepherd Dog. But with all the watering down and certain judges that look the other way while tracklayers are putting hot dogs down on tracks and dogs being trialed with handlers holding the collars during off leash etc, etc. a Schutzhund title means less and less as time goes by. That is why when looking at the dogs score book the title is only as credible as the title earned under non-Santa Claus Judges. Uwe

This comes up every year and every year it is the same. It is bandied around and has been talked about for at least the last 5 years. The proposers (if it does ever become an official proposal)need a 2/3 majority at the meeting.The Germans have only 1 vote the same as all the other members. Dont think for one minute that this possible proposal would be welcomed with open arms even in Germany. The SV have enough problems as it is without alienating even more of its members.

There is no way to breed German Shepherd without courage test! That is one of the things that makes this breed so diferent and special! The system that had been built during years, leads to the improvement of the German Shepherd Dog. Do not even think about that, because it would be the beguining of the way that takes all the shine away from our breed. German Shepherds are working dogs, we dont want to change that, even if sometimes we became so focused on beauty aspects, the work ability is what really makes the German Shepherd so pretty and noble, special!.
