I have looked into the different hip ratings and have learned some...But I would like the opinion of those on this board. I am looking into getting a puppy from an "A Normal" female and an "A fast normal" male... In the bloodlines, A fast normal is the lowest rating on the hips and it doesn't appear often. What are the odds of my male puppy gettting HD? I know there are ways to help prevent this, I did read the other thread on this subject, how to help prevent hd etc... I am new to this and don't know exactly how bad if at all A fast normal hips are.

Having A Normal hips and OFA Excellent hips is a good safeguard for not breeding bad hips, but you can get a dysplastic dog with 2 A Normals or 2 Excellents. Saying this, then you I think you can get a nondysplastic dog out of that pair, but ultimately it will be up to you. Most breeders also have a guarantee to replace the pup with dysplasia or to have you neuter him and get a replacement pup. Hope this helps, Elizabeth
