What has this become? - Page 1

I have been visiting this site daily for 2 years or so...didn't become a "member" until a few months back when I wanted to run an add. I've never "joined in" on the conversations...just visited in "stealth mode", not wanting to be seen, even though there are MANY very respectable, knowledgable breeders, trainers and just GSD enthusiasts that I would have LOVED to ask questions of, but was apprehensive because I didn't want to be chewed up and spit out by the handful of those who seem to enjoy to ridicule, slander and demean. I've silently watched "Newbies" ask a question that to some, was elementary, and they were told they were backyard breeders and shouldn't be doing it, to find a part time job or some other such comment. I feel they were asking so they could BETTER themselves and not BE someone just trying to make a buck at the expense of the breed! I feel if they didn't CARE, they wouldn't ASK! EVERYONE was a "Newbie" at one time! There was a time for EVERY ONE OF YOU when you purchased your first GSD, and you educated yourself! You learn as you go. You did your research. You asked questions of the more experienced. You did ALOT of "tire kicking" before you decided on which dog to buy! If you were fortunate, the seller didn't make you feel as if you were "wasting his time", like some of the adds listed in this site state now days. How does one KNOW their wasting the seller's time, if prices aren't listed in the add? If not all the pedigree information or hip ratings are there? If an add has a derrogitory comment such as "My time is valuable" ect. I don't WASTE MINE! This tells me that if his time is THAT valuable, perhaps once the dog is purchased, he wouldn't be available for questions in the future! Then, lately, there is the cussing...the ABSOLUTELY REVOLTING post to "Preston"!!! What in the world is this site coming to? Why does it have to be so hateful? I LOVE to "talk dog"! You can NEVER learn it all! There is always someone else with more/different experiences to draw from! We will all go out of this world never knowing all there is to know about this wonderful, noble breed. I just wish this site would get back to the way it used to be and not the vicious gossiping chat room it has lately become! Ok, I'm exposed! I've done it! Hopefully I won't be eaten by the vultures, but it had to be said so I'll take the chance. At least I'll feel better having said it and am confident that I'm not the only one in this VERY SMALL world we live in, who feels this way.
