is it safe to feed pregnant bitch with dog food containing glucosamine and chondroitin? Also, its effect when fed to puppies 2 months and above?

Feed beef ribs .. the dogs like them better and they have lots of glucosamine and chondroitin plus it helps keep the dog's teeth clean. There's something about the outside of a meaty bone that's good for the inside of a dog ( with apologies to Teddy Roosevelt and horses ).

Probably will not matter unless you feed mass quantities.

From dogfoodadvisor.com:

How can I find a dog food that contains enough chondroitin and glucosamine to help my pet?

Unfortunately, manufacturers rarely publish the actual amount of these two nutritionals contained in their dog food recipes.

Just seeing the words chondroitin and glucosamine on a marketing piece or the ingredients list itself doesn’t guarantee there’s enough present to be clinically effective for your pet.

Two things come to mind: 1. I doubt seriously there is enough glucosamine or chondroitin to really make a difference in your adults or puppies as I believe they just spray the stuff on and then heat; 2) I was told by a vet that I do respect NOT to give a puppy either until after 1 year old.

So if you were adding these two items in pill form or adding a powered supplement separate and as an additive where the puppies would be getting a whole lot more miligrams than what is in our dog foods that would be a different story but in our dog foods I think it should be safe; however I would check and see how much they are putting in the food you are feeding per cup of dog food and if it is not on the bag look on their website or call them.

Good luck. NAn

actually I am not comfortable giving it to them, but the dog food that I am using contains 300 mg and 100 mg of glucosamine and chondroitin in every kilogram. I'm just worried about its effect on my pregnant dog and her future puppies, and its effect if fed to puppies.
