Want a WGSL to show in AKC.What breeder? - Page 1

We plan on buying a WGSL pup in the next year or so and are looking for breeders. I will be showing the dog in AKC so no roachbacks..Yes I am aware I probably won't win much. The dog will be a family pet and play around in other sports. Which breeders have dogs that would be best suited to the AKC ring? I refuse to own a American showline ever again. I love funkenspiel dogs but dont want to import. I would also have a hard time bringing myself to pay 3000 for a puppy :o

You are about to enter and interesting situation. I'm assuming you have experience in the AKC arena, have your bases covered in every respect.

Rather than look at what WGSL breeders produce an AKC style dog. The two are somewhat disconnected. My thoughts would be to look at the German dogs from around 2007 to 2009 era and see who has some of the more angulated offspring from that generation as that's pretty much what you will be searching for.

Need to determine which males produced angulation on the limits? Get a hold of the 2008 and 2009 Urma books and read the progeny critiques.

Thanks for your reply! I know it is an odd situation and I will be glad to keep everyone up to date :) I owned/showed an am showline that was a genetic mess. I have shown my border collies in AKC for the past four years and have received grand chs on several ..and have two of my bred bys training in schutzhund.

import laws are changing, and importing a pup under 6 months may not be possible in the near future.

Kappo recently finshed his AKC CH title. If I were looking for a Amercan bred GSL to show in AKC shows, I would first contact Eisenwerk. You should be able to google that kennel name and find contact information. 

Importing a puppy under 6 months for personal use will still be doable. What will become more difficult will be importing for resale.
