There have been a lot of good discussions focusing on the fact that the members of the GSD community, whether you belong to the WDA or the UScA need to really start policing the corruption and fraud that we see on a regular basis. There is an interesting thread on the FaceBook Euro German Shepherd Studs in North America Group that I would like to comment on.
This situation has been made public by Camille Stauber, the owner of a littermate of Panzer von Melanchthon. The dam Ashley von Melanchthon was purchased in Germany by a WDA Regional Director, just after she was bred to Fulz di Zenevredo by her owner a SV Judge. Right after the purchase she was shipped to the US and lives with her new owner, the WDA Regional Director and his wife.
On February 5, 2012, Ashley’s litter was whelped in Long Grove, IL by the WDA Regional Directors wife. Camille, a longtime friend of the wife of Ashley’s owner, knew about the litter from the day it was whelped and frequently visited the puppies as soon as they were able to have visitors. Once Camille received the registration papers for her new puppy, she was very surprised as to why she received SV Pink Papers which had a birthdate of 3/11/2012, a full 5 weeks after the puppies were born. She was told not to worry that this was normal, and that the owners had asked for the SV Pink Papers.
We all know the rules that state a litter whelped in the US is only eligible to be issued an AKC Registration and does not qualify for SV Pink Papers even though the female was bred in Germany. So how did this litter get SV Pink Papers with a birthdate 5 weeks in the future? The SV regulates that a German stud can only have 90 breeding’s a year. For Ashley to whelp on 2/5/2012, she would have to have been bred on approximately 12/4/2011.
However, the German SV stud book shows that she was bred to Fulz on 1/10/2012. How convenient since by 12/4/2011, Fulz’s stud book had been filled, but because the stud owner wanted the additional money and he was dealing with a SV Judge, what the heck--let’s push the breeding to the next year when the counter starts again. Since the female was going out of the country, no one would know when the litter was actually born and the previous owner would file for the SV pink papers.
I am not naïve enough to think that this has never happened before, but in this case the misdeed has been made public. There is an email dated in late January 2012 from the WDA Regional Director, who is the owner of Ashley, that includes a picture of Ashley and Fulz and states that she has arrived here and that she was due to whelp in the next week. There are emails from the owner’s wife with puppy pictures sent prior to 3/11/2012, their supposed date of birth, which clearly show a date of early February 2012, and ads for local restaurants on the newspapers lining the whelping box.
In addition to issuing false SV pink pages with an incorrect birthdate, by pushing the date of birth up by 5 weeks, any dog in the litter competing had a decided developmental advantage, especially in the puppy classes!
The owner of Panzer von Melanchthon, has worked hard for their accomplishments. However, at the beginning of March, Panzer’s owner knowingly entered a show where Panzer took SG1 in a 18-24 month class when he was actually already 2 years old in February and should have been competing in the Working Dog Class. Panzer now has also passed his Breed Survey, and the WDA Breed Survey rules state the following in section 2.5 item #5:
“The use of any false information on any German Shepherd Dog entered in an authorized or sanctioned GSDCA-WDA event shall result in the banning of the German Shepherd Dog from all future events and the termination of the membership of the party or parties who falsified the information.”
There are rules regarding breeding dates and whelping locations that are intended for all to follow. What we have here is a WDA Regional Director and an SV Judge and sadly an owner of one of the litter in question who have all decided that the rules do not apply to them. A formal complaint, including all evidence, is being sent to both the GSDCA and SV. My question is what are the ramifications to the persons involved in this falsification?
What is really sad is that the bloodlines, health, and temperament of a dog are no different if they are born in the US with AKC papers or born in Germany with SV Pink Papers, so why do persons resort to lying and cheating to obtain false registrations?

it seems to me like its all about the money and not the breed i can see folks paying more for the pups and my thoughts about what should be done well the breeder should be fined a great deal and or band from breeding for such amount of time ! the judge is just as if not worse and should not have his roll as a judge for life and should pay a great deal and maybe look at all of his dogs close to what he has done with them shame on all of them !!!!

" Although I do not now have a dog, I am appalled that the very people who are responsible parties in organizations that are designed to honor the best of the breed have abused their positions."
That´s kept way too general, we still have a lot of enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and honest men and women in high positions, but people tend to listen to the marketing experts instead of the breed experts.
The only way to make an end of this corrupt behavior is to report these things to SV/AKC. Rumors or hearsay don´t help, needed are names, documents, pictures, dates, names of witnesses willing to state facts.
Within the 60.000 German members of SV there is only a handful making a lot of money out of dogs, but they are sticking together backing up each other.
Others are quiet, because they dream the dream of fast money, too, always hoping to become part of the "inner circle" one day...
It´s not easy - ownerships are faked, no written contracts, several kennel names owned by one family, nobody willing to break silence....

a while back there was a post about a breeder holding up paperwork because he/she was getting or trying to get pink papers on american born pups from a german mating. (bitch mated in germany and then imported into usa).
does anyone remember the outcome?

The outcome will be the same as every other puppy born in the US. They get AKC papers as the AKC is the US FCI recognized registry. If you get, if you are told or think you will get SV pink papers on a litter born in the US, you are either groosly mistaken, clueless, or have done an illegal registration. That simple.
To get SV pink papers on a litter born in the US the owner of the female has to falsify paperwork, someone in Germany has to approach their breed warden and falsify paperwork, the breed warden has to falsify paperwork.

I don't understand what the big deal is with pink papers. It doesn't change anything about the dog.
