I've always admired the looks of the breed, but have only seen one in person. Anyone have any experiences with them? Temperament wise, personalities, trainability?
I have owned Bouviers before my GSDs, they had been hard headed, independent dogs. I loved them dearly, but they could be trying dogs! And the wet, dirty beards in the face as a wake up call.. LOL..
Thanks for any input :)

The two breeds are nothing alike in my opinion   Both were designed for herding The Beauceron is a herding /guard dog.   A very large dog.  The other is small.... To me the beauceron is  a combination of a dobermann, and german shepherd and a horse....lol.....  They are very powerful dogs.    Very large dogs...............  havent seen them around the south very much..... Saw one at a akc herding instinct test...........

My Bouviers were working lines, they were rescues, grandma, daughter and my mom adopted the grand daughter. All of them were over 90 lbs. I've heard the show line Bouviers are smaller? They were not very tall, just heavy boned, thick dogs. I'll have to search for some pics, I have a new lap top, all my older pics are saved in files, I'll have to dig LOL.. I have one on here..

I have to disagree with Yogi, The Beaucerons i've seen were fairly small. Maybe like a tall doberman. Skinny narrow bodied dogs. And much too hairy for my taste. The Bouve's I've groomed looked like grizzlie bears. The males were over 25" at the withers or taller and heavily coated. Not as big as my Black Russian Terrier that use to groom. But damn close. We had a female Beauceron coming to my training club. But they stopped coming a while back, no clue where they went. The others i've seen were at obedience trials. And they did not do well, but that could be they were young dogs or had poor training.
It's not my kind of dog, and the double dew claws bother the crap out of me as a former dog groomer. Ugh!
Not a fan of the bouves either, they always matt up, have gross stinky faces and poop sticks to their butts badly. Temperament wise they are ok, but i still don't want one.

Dragonfly I am wondering what Beucerons you have seen?? These dogs do not appear to have to much hair in there pics?? Look like a Dobe GSD cross in a lot of ways.

There used to be a regular poster on the board who had a Beauceron for
his (?) avatar pic, but I can't recall the Username ...  hope they will come
back to advise you ?

Yes they do look Dobe-ish don't they ?  I got teased for thinking said avatar
was a Dobermann.  Not a very frequent sighting in the UK, although we do
have one well-known GSD person who has a few, she produces a number of
unusual breeds.

Is it BoCRon, Hundmutter?

I've always liked the look of them too... will be curious to see the replies on this thread.

Yes Dawulf, thats it, thank you.   I'm sure he said he'd owned/handled them;
wasn't just a random photo.  Haven't seen a post from BoCRon for some
weeks though.

I know a woman who runs a beauceron in agility. Wonderful temperment, incredibly athletic dog.
