Well can you tell me how much you feed of the stuff and how often. Thx in advance... Nan

I buy it frozen and feed between 4 - 8 ounces per day. It is a good part of my dog's diet. I find the tripe to be really important along with the raw bones.

Thank you Slam; I am trying to fit it into the puppies diet; not going so well. Know the calcium/phos ratio is good for them but it tends not to agree with him and I think he could use it in his raw diet BUT so far it is not working. I bought 4 oz. patties from K9 Kravings, know it is pure tripe, beef tripe. Maybe I will keep trying and see if he can get used to it. Thx Nan

K-9 Kravings is a good food and Bob does a good job. I would vary things a little to confirm it is the tripe. What is the issue? Perhaps add less and then up the amount gradually.

OK, I will try that, hate handling the stuff though. Just want to dump the patties in the bowl, thaw and feed; so will half them and see. Comes out looking just as it went in. Green and fast.... Without more explanation you probably get my drift... Thx though Nan

Do you add some kind of probiotic?
by Nans gsd on 01 December 2013 - 22:12
No I do not add any probiotics; maybe I should with him. Although so far once I got him off the kibble, other than that tripe episode and any overfeeding, he does great with everything else. Thx Dawulf

I don't feed raw, totally, but I know that when I change something in my animals' diets, particularly if it's something rich, the probiotics help ease them into it tremendously. :) Best of luck!

Green tripe can be sometimes to much to handle for a dog, so I suggest you start slowly and increase up to a tolerance level....and you will notice tolerance level for sure. Follow the same procedure as you would with vitamin C and Fish oil tolerance..... good luck.
P.S. I believe that green tripe could also be considered as probiotic.....not sure about that.

Green tribe is still the best for a dog, I used to buy the whole tribe, around 26 - 30 lb. and cut it in pieces of 10 oz, always fed raw (doesn´t make sense any more. only one dog left ).
You can start feeding green tribe in the age of 4 weeks ( through the meatgrinder at this age...), but never directly out of the fridge.
Coming from kibble you need to start slowly. What´s your dog´s problem?
