Hi, how do you stop your dog from eating his feces?

Remove all feces from the area and place dog food into a bowl, be sure to have plenty of fresh water handy.

We do put his food in a bowl and he always has fresh water. He eats it when we take him outside to go to the bathroom. Before I get it picked up he starts to.

Walk him on a leash. As soon as he go poop remove him from the area and clean up the poop.
I had a dedicated crap eater, it was disgusting.  Yet she always seemed conflicted, she clearly didn't want the poop but felt compelled to eat it. I think she went a little haywire. She made the most awful faces when she did it. Then tried to lick your face later. Ugh!

Yeah leash because even with a muzzle he can still get to the poop.

table spoon of fresh, grind pine apple....I used to put mine in a blender than pre pack it in zip lock bags and freeze it, 1 good size pineapple for 4 dogs lasted me 2 weeks, just add one table spoon daily to all bowls....that worked....i had 1 poop eater but she ate everyones crap...grrrrrooooosssss...
Also if you don't want to mess with pine apple Tractor supply sells pills that work too...like 100 pills for $7.99 I think..I used that too...worked well...

Ladyfrost my dog liked the added antipoop products, pineapple, forbid, meat tenderizer-paypa. Nothing phased her. But the leash stopped her cold turkey.

Jenni78

NA7, is this your new pup? If so, most likely, he had a good mother who kept the pups clean and he learned it from her. Attentive, clean dams do clean-up duty very religiously, and I've had that issue as well. My pups will start mimicking her behavior and eating feces as well, though I've never done anything about it except wait for them to grow up and stop it when I see it and keep the yard clean. Like LF said, pineapple will do the trick, but I've never had to go that far.
