I was sent to Kim {von Hayden} from a friend that I trusted. Before I decided to buy my next puppy that I had planned on training as my next "Medical Response Service Dog" because I recently lost my other "Service Dog" & was in need of another one to take his place. I talked to Kim a LOT before I decided to get a puppy from her because she sounded like she knew exactly what she was doing as far as picking out just the right puppy for what I needed. Right from the start, if I was smart, I would've just sent the pup back right then as soon as I got him. She told me that when she dropped him off at the airport that he was throwing a MAJOR fit & screaming bloddy murder. She said she's NEVER had a pup react like that. When he got here, he was STILL screaming bloddy murder. But like a dummy, I went ahead & kept him thinking I could help fix whatever problems he had. He had such BAD fears when it came to noises that It shocked me HOW bad it really was. He wasn't just scared, he was outright HORRIFIED!!!!! This wasn't just fear. Then to top if off, she never sent me a contract. Somehow she got the WRONG idea that I didn't want to be tied to a contract {which was NOT the case because I'd been asking her all along to send me one}.

I've bought pups who were screaming at the airport...to get out of their crates- once out, they were fine. They were obnoxious and demanding, not horrified.

Not that we haven't heard about von Hayden before, but what, exactly, did she do to screw you? A screaming puppy? Didn't send a contract? More info is needed to jump onto the bandwagon on this one...

I guess people want their pups to come trained for them.
Don't these buyers feel they have a responsibility to what is noe "their" pup.
Yeah, some puppies can get horrified with change. My God, if the gare closes on my puppies and I get through without them, you'd think it was the end of the world.
Sometimes you just got to work with your pup and help build confidence.

No, they don't. If everything is great, it's to their credit. If a hair is out of place or the pup can't do algebra upon arrival, it's a bad breeder, LOL. There are so many bad buyers and breeders out there that it's almost expected now to have problems. Thinking  It goes both ways!

Well, it WAS a nice change of pace from the usual complaints about litter registration paperwork never having even been applied for, let alone the individual registration papers being sent out, wasn't it?

That said, for heaven's sake, Kanas Kennels, you represent yourself as a breeder, so you know that the 'fear' periods in puppy development don't actually follow a rigid schedule; perhaps the airport and the trip overwhelmed the pup at the wrong time. Granted, I wouldn't have shipped the puppy if he was screaming bloody murder when I delivered him to the airport, because I'd have been concerned there was something amiss physically, and wouldn't want to risk a flight putting added stress on the pup [I will never forget what it was like to have an eardrum rupture while thousands of feet in the air when I was forced to travel for work while battling a persistent sinus and ear infection--so I'll never risk putting any creature that can't verbalize why it's crying on an airplane until I've been assured that there's no chance of the air pressure causing exacerbating anything].

Why didn't you insist on having all the terms set down in writing  before you even parted with a dime of your money, so you could be sure that you WOULD have a contract in advance of having a puppy?  Again--you represent yourself as a breeder, so I expect you to know better than the average person just seeking a nicely bred pet; that you would send money for a pup and shipping without having anything in hand that confirmed what you had discussed was needed in a service dog candidate just boggles my mind.

So where is this pup now?

The breeder mentioned has a long history, much of which has been documented on this site and others.  Surely if you had done any homework at all, you would have known that before purchasing a puppy from her.  Surely since you obviously knew about this forum you would have done a simple search on this forum before coming here to complain about the breeder?  Something doesn't add up here.

Gotta agree with Eichenluft, the very title of this thred indicates
something more:
One unsettled puppy = "Screwing everyone"  ???

OP apparently didn't NEED to do any research, 'cos:  ' was sent
to Kim from a friend that I trusted'.  Too right, something does
not add up.

I'm not going to make a judgment on  the pup from just a few lines from an anonymous poster, it may be fine or may be a nut. But like said above, I really don't understand how anyone aware of this board and especially a long time member does not do research on the board. It's a pretty simple search function and this kennel has been discussed several times.

I learned the hard way, but spending a little more money to go and evaluate any dog that I'm hoping to be a part of my life for several years has greatly enhanced my GSD experience.

Hexe, first line cracked me up. LOL .......nice change of pace, lol lol.

You have to wonder when someone doesn't utilize a simple Google search.........

A puppy that does not overcome a fear of something quickly need to be culled from the "working dog" lineup. If the breeder does not they are just a puppy mill. IMO
