The whole area has come to the support of the Shrewsbury Police K9 Dog.
A vet has offered her services for free, the people pitched in to buy a special cruiser and now they have donated enough for a vest. Wish I new about this earlier I would have helped.
Very positive reading article. Enjoy! Also nice picture of the officer, dog & cruiser.

YAY ! I support several different departments with raffles and and just giving money.. I love it when our "partner" is as well protected as we can provide for them!! I wish I had a vest back in the day for my boy..! He did his job and he was one of the lucky ones that made it through to live to 12 !! thanks for the 'feel good' moment Ninja !!

I am always happy to see the public get involved with helping these dogs. Our local kennel club donated several bullet proof vest for our K9 dept. My vet sponsors an adoption event every year and funds raised there by the raffle are donated to the k9 dept in their town. Just south of us is a casino and the Indian Tribe that owns it purchased a K9 for the county Sheriff's dept. I think people have realized the valuabe service these dogs provide.

Here's a great non-profit run totally on a volunteer basis by a friend of mine
http://coveryourk9.com/
Right now they have a fundraiser where you can get your own k9 L.E.O. vest and all.
They have provided vests to over 100 dogs, plus provided more than 200 trauma kits to working teams along with training
in emergency care. A new area they have started is provding heat alarms for the car ( in parts of the central valley in CA it can
be extremely hot in the summer w/ temps routinely in the high 90s and low hundreds),
Finally they also have a fund for medical care for retired K0s since once retired the department no longers provides vet
care and the shrewsbury vet mentioned in the article is unusual in her choice of helping out.
Spread the word. If people want to contribute this is a fine organization.

Well, TIG, it is your fault!!!! I have donated to that group because you suggested it. I belong to a retired PD group and have for about 16 years. Due to extreme expenses right now and NOT Christmas gifts, I really questioned sending a donation, but you suggested it and so I did. Put a star on your wall and tell the group you did a good job.
Some PD's do not put them on their dogs because of the weight and the bulk.

I forwarded the link to several places and so hope more donations come in.
Maybe I did wrong by not asking for official permission first, but I thought that TIG wanted to get the word out. If I did wrong, so be it and I will be banned, I guess. I do not post much now anyway.

Why not post this charity as a separate item?

Person on one of my lists said that they had forwarded the post even further.
