I have a pure bred Boxer, she is spayed, and for the last two months she had been vomitting every 3-5 days. I know it is vomitting because it takes a lot out of her, she puts all of her force into this and im afraid there is something wrong, Called the vet and made an appointment for tomorrow, took so long because we havent had the financing to be able to bring her the vet said it was going to be at least $500. She is normal and acts normal, plays, eats, drinks normally, her bwl movements are normal aswell. the only thing is she usually vomitts before eating food, so its not a dye and then she eats her food. she hides as if imbarrased and then comes out to get her face cleaned. her vomit is sometimes foamy and sometimes liquidy but it is always pink. She has had one that was yellow thats it. so out of the 13 times she vomitted tis month and last 1 was yellow. has anyone els had this problem, I have been doing some research and it tells me three things. 1: its an Ulcer. 2: it could be stomach cancer. 3: Could be linked to Kidney failure. she has no other signs or symptoms! Any Ideas?

Unfortunately, cancer is very common in boxers. Try to get a sample to take to the vet. Pink vomit is NOT normal. Normally, if a dog vomits on an empty stomach, it should be yellow or green, or maybe clear, if the dog has just had some water to drink.

It is impossible to say what is wrong with your dog for sure without the vet doing tests. And, unfortunately, that is expensive. Sad Smile

Cannot believe any vet would tell you a visit to exam and run a test or two is $500.00

What did they tell you cost that much?

FIrst of all , make sure this dog is getting some pedialite as deyhyration from vomiting is usually very serious..

Second:  what dog food are you feeding

BENEFUL?

I have had dogs come to me on BENEFUL and they vomit pink stuff before they eat and after sometimes..i
PUt some in your hands and feel the rubber it is consistant of?

IF not Beneful , what is the food?

GO to rice and broth of chicken for a few days and see what happens...

NO dog food for 3 days at least and see if it stops.

I would question any vet as to the price of what he is gonna charge 500.00 to see why your dog vomits pink?

YOU must be in the High Rent district..

Let; us know what the vet says and what they find..

iF it is not bloody , red, with streaks, and poop is ok. ?  what color is the POOP?  Strange and would lead me to say   it is the DOG FOOD>>>

BE sure to get an answer to what the vet is charging for what he says and you get  a panel run..and it doesn't cost that much...

She is Eating Lamb and brown rice. I think she may be alergic to chicken as she breaks out when she eats it :( The exam, then they want to run blood tests and some other tests. She gave me an apro of everything they might have to do like xrays and ultrasounds and stuff. Ill for sure let you know what the vet sais. Hope its othing serious, makes me cry everytime she pukes:( poor baby.

I would agree with Yellowrose. Change the food to raw (anything but chicken or chicken mix). There are also some kibble choices without food, like Taste of The Wild, but most kibble have some form of chicken in them. I would also go to see a holistic vet with a less hefty price list.
It could be a gastritis, or it could be something more serious.

YR, if yu read her post, the dog is vomiting on an empty stomach, so it is most likely not related to the food. And it sounds like the dog is on a good quality kibble, though she doesn't state the brand.

My nursing instincts are telling me it is something related to the stomach.

I have a lot of dog come in here who are fed crap foods like Beneful, and they don't upchuck before eating. Most of them look quite healthy, believe it or not!

First part of the puzzle Sunsilver

POOP is normaL???  DO NOT KNOW WHAT  normal is to all..

WHAT does the poop look like?

green, brown light , yellow , dark brown....soft , small big or in several pieces.??

i have had one boxer but was healthy

IS this dog eating berries from your property off a bush??

OFF a tree

OFF the ground..
DO yyou have fruit trees on the property

Do you have chickens on the property or any pooping rabbits etc..

IF the dog has gastritis or intestonal problems...the diahrea would be a factor part of the time

if the dog has a stomach problem....how does the foot digest  , of course I know the gut is where the food absorbs with nutrients and enzymes in the small intestine...

so  that being said....yellow puke once in a while?????  why does the poop not show the stomach is not digesting...if any organ is not working...diahrea follows the problem usually every day or every other day...unless you are giving  Imodium or  Flagyl....

AM I not right Sunsilver..

so to eliminate   no diahrea.....something is not getting to the stomach...the esophagus is causing , or the dog is eating berries or grass or some such weed to cause her to upchuck

POSSIBILITY????

bone or stick caught in her stomach?

No mention of the dog's age, or whether she's on any medications. That would be useful to know.
