"Proven breeder and has produced for the [REDACTED]. Last litter was 2010. She comes into heat EVERY 3 months right on schedule "
Hmm. Cycles every 3 months, eh? Wow--that means the buyer could have 4 opportunities per year to breed this seasoned matron!

Typo ?

Could be typo. My one female cycles 3x per year, every 4 months exactly.
Still think it's a weird thing to put in an ad...

yep same said dog they tried to breed and sell multiple times and she never got pregnant. i know what add you are talking about XD

I had a dog that cycled every 3 months. She never got pregant. The reproductive vet said a dog that cycles that often will not get pregnant because the reproductive tract does not get enough of a break between cycles

i cared for a female that had 3 month cycles and she got pregnant 2 times in 5 years of her owners breeding i think every heat cycle. and in those 2 times she had 2 puppys and then 3 puppys
and one of the females from her is 2 1/2 years old and has never had a heat cycle

That was kinda my point, guys....while she HAS had litters previously, I don't know that I'd be advertising as her as a brood bitch: an older bitch whose last litter was two years ago, and who comes in season every 3 months. She's an attractive girl, and has decent lines behind her, but I do hope whoever buys her wants her for a pet and a fun companion they can do tracking work. She seems like a nice girl.
Edited to add: this kind of cycling usually is indicative of cystic ovaries. We see the same thing in cattle.

Well, Hexe, we didn't see the ad. We only had your post to go on. I feel sorry for any dog being sold whose selling points revolve around her estrus cycle, personally. I wish he luck in finding a good home.
It's not always a health problem when a bitch cycles more than 2x per year. Capri has done this as long as I have had her and has never had any pregnancy or whelping complications whatsoever. It's just in her genes, I guess, as at least half of her daughters do the same thing. This is part of why I decided to retire her at 5, despite strong pressure not to. Every cycle ages their uterus. (I know you, Hexe, know this; I'm just saying this for newbies reading this).

Qira has cycled every 7 mos since I got her. I always thought that was strange since it's usually every 6 with dogs.
I hope the dog in the ad finds a good home...
